So when i was talking to the guy who will be custom tuning my car he told me that the AP is 700 and comes with 3 custom maps that he will tune for my car which are economy(light power) highway(medium power) and track(high power) then there is also a stock map and a Valet map which makes it so the car cant rev above 4k

You could do all that yourself with opensource via ecuflash. Take an hour or two to study how these cars work and you see how easy these changes are. I mean i could go flash my car into "valet" mode in about 40 seconds right now from start to finish as it nothing but a single setting in the rev limit map.

You buy it from a reputable seller and you have nothing to worry about. Nice try though. Like I said, I have no intentions of buying a brand new AP. I will buy it used.

Hello ECUFLASH. Is an ok price, but if it gives the same performance as it did on the 9 it might not be worth it, unless you get PROtunes. And that will cost more money.

He is doing the custom tuning for free then, which of course, there is nothing wrong with that.

The AP is $695 and comes with standard one-size-fits all (non custom tuned) maps.

The AP isn't just a map tool. It does some other nifty stuff as well. You can check and clear engine codes and view a bunch of data on the car as it runs. It probably isn't worth it if you are going to get a bunch of mods then protune it once, but it is nice for an upgrade path. Start with the AP and get a base map to up the boost and lean out the A/F. Get an exhaust and intake and switch to the stage 2 map. Then once you do a bunch of more work get a custom tune. Additionally, it is nice if you want to use different fuel types. Since all you need to do is connect the AP to the OBD-II port and select a different map, you can switch to race fuel easily without having to worry about a laptop. Depends on your needs and preference really.

I'm just hoping it is better then the evo8 version..I have a slew of X's waiting for tunes and all I can do is sit here with my thumb up my arse..I didn't even bother with trying to get ahold of the ecuflash beta because I have nothing to log with (unless you have something I don't know about)..I am sure in time I will be using ecuflash but if it (ap) is as good as it is on the subarus this time around I would have no problem using it. For the time being. Honestly it seems like it is going to be a close race to the finish

At that price might as well get ECUflash. $170 for a cable and a bit of reading and learn something in the process.

And 700 is alot i think. It still all depends on the base map and the actual functions of the device. We will have to wait and see.

I have an AP and i love it.Besides the tunes,it also reads fuel trims ,knock counts, intake temps, coolant temps,RPM's,and a few other things....There was a noticable difference after i installed it.I still have some parts awaitng install before i take it to dallas for a Pro-tune. Soon i will be out of this iraqi desert and back in the evo......woo hooo!

Hopefully the version for the X will be great also.

AP FTW!
