We have had several customers ask about dyno testing our products. We recently picked up an Evolution X. The X only has 300 miles on it! Let the fun begin!


Base, Boost Controller

We started with just a boost controller and gained 33whp above base! (NO TUNING)


Base, Boost Controller, Intake

Then we decided the next mod would be an ETS Intake and MBC. We gained 52whp above base and smoothed out the curve! (NO TUNING)


Base, Boost Controller, Intake, FMIC 3.5

We then added a 3.5" FMIC and gained 68.76 whp over base! You will notice there is a dip making the car run rich. This is from the cold air passing into the intake manifold. (NO TUNING)


Base, Boost Controller, Intake, FMIC 4.0

We decided to switch the 3.5" intercooler out and see if the 4.0" made any more power on the stock turbo. We gained 76.52 whp over the stock base line! This is a 7.76whp gain over the 3.5" Intercooler! (NO TUNING)



Base, Boost Controller, Intake, Test Pipe, Catback

All of the modifications before this point were done on stock exhaust. We figured we would use the stock exhaust for most of the runs since the number 1 question we get is how quite is your exhaust. You can't really beat the stock exhaust for stealth! We now have added the Test Pipe and Catback and gained 95.82 whp over stock! (NO TUNING)


Base, Boost Controller, Intake, Test Pipe, Catback, UICP

At this point we are running on stock intercooler piping and decided to switch out the restrictive UICP and see if we could make a little more power. We gained 95.88 whp over stock! The UICP did not really add to the peak hp, but the average amount of HP over the stock UICP is greater.


All Mods - Combined

I hope you guys enjoyed reading our ETS dyno experience. We will have a bunch more info to come, we just wanted to share what information we have gathered so far. Remember, this was done with no Tuning, so there is a lot more power to be had with these mods.

I've never been to Florida, but my guess is that the weather there doesn't help make HP like the Northwest climate does. On top of that, different Dyno's read differently, also, the boost on their car may have been higher to utilize the bigger FMIC. Hope this helps shed some light on the diff in numbers!

And Michael, whenever I get the chance to go up there to get my FMIC stenciled, mind if I got on the dyno to see what my fatty puts down? Mods in sig, soon to be tuned by Mr. English as soon as beta testing is over.

The torque figures show alot. Do you have the torque curves also? How much boost is the car running? Pumpgas 93 octane?

Just some details on the test performed.

We base lined the car on 92oct pump, then we put in 2gal of c16 and the baseline numbers were unchanged.

The stock boost was 20psi dropping in the car was 5gal of 92oct, and 2gal c16, from when the fuel light came on. We left the same fuel in the car for all of the tests.The boost was 20psi dropping to 14psi with the stock boost controller hooked up.

When we installed the MBC ( Hallman ), we turned it up to 22psi and left it there. The boost controller is referenced off of the factory turbo outlet pipe, and goes straight to the WG.
boost: 22psi dropping to 16psi

Upon installation of the intake, the choppy power curve really cleaned itself up, the boost stayed the same.
boost: 22psi dropping to 16psi

When we put the 3.5 intercooler on the boost went up to 23.5 ( due to less pressure drop ), the boost controller was untouched, The 3.5" fmic is worth an extra 1.5psi of boost on top end.
boost: 23.5psi dropping to 17.5psi

The 4" intercooler raised the boost to 24psi ( less pressure drop still ), the peak boost went up .5psi over the 3.5fmic, and .5psi over the 3.5fmic on top end. The
4" cooler is worth an extra 2psi on top end.
boost: 24psi dropping to 18psi

Upon installation of our exhaust, and test pipe the power went up across the board. The exhaust did cause the boost to spike to 25psi, the mid range boost was the same, but top end boost was 18.5psi. The car hit boost cut, so we actually turned the boost controller down, to 24psi. the boost would hold 18.5psi through the top end.

Our dyno Wideband was not working for these tests, we were just watching the gauge.

The AFR go to 10.0 at 4k, and start rising at 5500rpm, they are 11.0 at 6000rpm, and end up at 11.5 at red line.

We will do another run today, and put up torque, and logged afr.

Actually seems to be pretty accurate baseline with what ours baseline on our dyno.. 250-260whp for most stock X's...
