GM 3-port, Forge WGA + an amazing tune from Chris @ EFI on my MR

Last time I went to EFI, Chris was trying out some things with my MR and couldn't get the ECU and stock boost control system to hold the boost. Thanks to hybridKOOP, we installed the GM 3-port and added a Forge WGA to support it. We were able to get tq as high as 350, but the transmission didn't like it so we obviously scaled it back some. I will let the dyno sheet speak for itself.

Thanks again Chris for an awesome tune! 304whp/311tq on EFI's Mustang dyno. The car feels amazing! The power hits hard, throttle is smooth, and shifts are crisp!

The GM 3-port boost solenoid replaces the stock 2-port system and all pills; there are no more pills. The ECU controls boost just like stock and the Forge WGA spring is set to 19psi. The dotted line is boost.

Thanks for the compliments Andy.

Here is his run on our dyno database.. Select any variable on the dyno plot, then mouse over to track the boost anywhere on the plot: http://efilogics.com/dyno/index.php?...&torque=1&gb=0

Thanks,

Chris

Am i looking at the graph right? is there a loss on the low end?

Also how did the SST react to the 350 ft lbs? Details? did the ecu cut power, slip clutches, "slow down" warning, etc?

nice gains overall, but looks like you lost quite a bit of spool up time.

you said you hit 350wtq at some point, but why backed off so much to 311wtq?

What do you mean by quite a bit? If you look at where the two boost graphs overlap, I lost maybe 100 RPM of spool time? I think that's pretty inconsequential. I hit almost 27psi at roughly 3,500 RPM...that's pretty impressive if u ask me.

At 350wtq the SST just gives up and lets go...It would not hold the power. I heard it, but Chris can elaborate on what it actually did.

Forge WGA spring comes preset with 19psi...the stock spring is 12 psi IIRC

When the car hit 28psi (350wtq), the transmission just let go, like you put it in neutral during the pull.. It did this twice, once at 28psi, and again at 27psi (335wtq).. This really discouraged me from pushing the car hard, so we backed it down at peak torque by manipulating the MIVEC / Target Boost / Fine and Coarse WGDC tables.. The drop in power before peak torque is the product of the tune being backed down for safety of the transmission.

Because we have a Mustang 500SE, the 350wtq may be a little more than the SST is really happy with

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks for the info Chris. I think people should be well aware of what happens on the MR when the tq gets too high.

Sounds like you were hitting the air flow limit and the torque tables are not adjusted properly. When SST doesn`t like the power it works the magic of holding off power, neutral pull is another issue...

Interesting you say that, because every X we have tuned, when we hit the Air flow limit, or the tables are not scaled properly, it would throw a CEL and go into Limp mode, Andy's car did not show these symptoms.
