Mellon Tuning EVOX build results
Owner: Brad
Username: bbarnhill
Location: Memphis, TN
EVO X
5-speed
93 octane
stock boost
no mods
Brad's EVO X is bone stock down to the paper filter and was surging horribly throughout the RPM range. I was shocked that Mitsu let these cars out the door with a 9.8-9.5 AFR. I only made changes to the fuel/timing thus far and we're very pleased with the improvements over stock
Brad is coming back with a MBC and K&N drop in filter this week...looking forward to seeing what else we can extract from it on pump gas.
for fun we did a g-tech test before and after:
0-60 6.25
1/4 14.57 @ 95.06
60' 2.169
1/8 9.34 @ 75.42
Mellon Tuned fuel/timing only
0-60 4.53
1/4 12.97 @ 108.67
60' 1.89
1/8 8.37 @ 86.52

Per staff vote, DLL graphs are allowed in the dyno forums in Evom. I am going now to change the stickies to reflect this.
Thanks for your patience everyone while we got this all sorted out!

Chris - do you have a 3rd or 4th gear pull (inc AFR) for this car?
I presume its totally stock?
I want to check it against my car to make sure the AFR is reading about right..

no sir, that's a bung welded into the downpipe so it should be dead on.
what are you seeing with your X?
this car was bucking and surging terribly through the rpm range, it wasn't even fun to drive until I tuned it, hence the massive power/g-tech differences.

52680015 2008 USDM car, I guess that's possible, I don't have another X ROM handy to compare.

I would email you a 17 but i cant find you email address.
I just did a QUICK compare of the fuel maps and they are the SAME
BUT BUT BUT
The "AFR Calibration Map" is different
Code:
<table name="Calibration Fuel Map" category="Misc" address="576d3" type="3D" swapxy="true" scaling="Percent128">
<table name="Load" address="617d6" type="X Axis" elements="41" scaling="Load"/>
<table name="RPM" address="617aa" type="Y Axis" elements="19" scaling="RPM"/>
</table>
So I think that yes Mitsu leaned out between 17 and 20...
Sorry massively off topic

Interestingly my romid 53040010 has the 52680020 AFRCal map AND a leaner fuel map as well..

That is one of the first roms on the Evo X in the US. It is has the richest AFRs, hence the ultra rich numbers that you got.
The 52680018 and the 52680020 are the two factory re-flashes that Mitsu released to help with the surging and bucking problem. The 020 was the last one released.
