Anyone install an AVIC Z110BT

Looking to see if anyone has installed one of these in their Evo, and could comment on their impressions. Any gotchas in the installation? Any of the stock radio/BT buttons not working with the PAC unit? Would you do it again?

I was torn between this and the DNX9140, but when I play around with the Kenwood, I don't like the feel of the interface, and think it would irritate me sooner than later.

i have this installed on my sti, with the pac unit (new blue unit) there is no lag, a lot of sti guys said they had lag issues with the older units. programming is pretty simple, as long as you know what wires to tap into it should work flawlessly.

I have to say the only thing I don't like about this unit is the Navigation software. They should partner with Garmin or TomTom.

I have done some reading on the avic411 forums about the Z110, and honestly it doesn't sound as great as some say/think. It's got its bugs just like the Kenwood, or any other unit. I guess pick your poison.

Yeah, that seems to be the only thing lacking in this unit. While the navigation isn't as good as the Kenwood, I just did not like the interface on the Kenwood units. I figure that everytime I sit in the car I'll be working with the interface and the stereo controls, but only a couple times a week (at most) will I use the navigation, so my choice was pretty clear.

i have one in my MR and so far it is great. I have a bit of lag on the steering wheel audio controls but i think its cause i programed b unit with the engine off so the voltage is a bit off sometimes. The lag is intermittent most of the time it works great.

I have no lag at all with the steering wheel controls. Very happy with those. Have found a bug, though, that my Divx files, if I fast forward or stop and restart them, there is no sound. I'm going to try reencoding them in CBR (I typically use 128kbps VBR for my files) to see if it prefers that.

Sean, I went with the Scoche dash piece. Not really happy with it (the Metra was worse from the pictures I saw), but it will be OK until I break down and buy the JDM double din piece. Ping me and we can meet up somewhere so you can check it out.

Ad Lib, what dash piece did you end up using?

$200+ for a dash piece is killer.

Did you end up selling your stock navi?

Makes me kind of wish I'd not paid for the nav when I got the car... there were no dash kits then though :-/

I got the JDM dash piece it fits perfect and in my opinion was worth the extra dough..is it overpriced? Yes... does it get the job done RIGHT? yes I saw all the pics of the ill fitting other ones and just wanted something that didnt look like ass.
I actually replaced my whole system and went with alpine PDX5 which I am a bit disappointed in and am going to end up switching out for a JL audio hd600/4 and 750/1. I replaced the door speakers with some older CDT braxials I had laying around from an old install also had an Image Dynamics IDMAX 12 so got that runnin in the trunk overall the system sounds MUCH better just not quite where i want it to be yet. The pioneer unit is nice, from what I have researched so far it will go to full volume without clipping its pre out signal which is awesome.
