newbie head unit install question

Ok, I would like to replace my Evo X GSR's OEM audio unit (RF without NAV) with a new DD size NAV/audio head unit (havent decided which one yet). I would like to still use the OEM Rockford/Fosgate amp.

From scanning this forum, it seems that all i need to do this is a scosche dash kit and a Metra MITO-02 adapter.

Is this true? Do i need any other hardware?

Also, is there an easy way to use the OEM SIRIUS antenna or do i need to mount another one?

Also, is there a way to connect the new head unit to be able to use the aux input under the AC controls?

thanks for the help

Correct, the mito-02 will let you use an aftermarket deck with the stock RF sub/amp. You'll need a new Sirius antenna, the oem wont work, and you can probably look up which wires go to the aux input then slice into them for the new deck. I just ran an ipod cable into my glove box, easier.

he is right about the kit and harness but not about the sir antenna im using the stock antenna on my pioneer sir unit i mounted the unit right on the stock sir unit and pluged in the antenna im not sure if took the plastic head off or not did it awhile ago but it works fine oh and if youre using the metra double din kit is sucks the kit doesnt fit right radio looks good in the kit but the kit doesnt fit the dash well and for the price of the adapter i just hooked up an alpine pdx 5 chanel amp under the seat need a crossovers for the front doors or u will blow them out and not 2 much volume for the sub

thanks to all for the advice.
glad to hear that i have the basics correct. It is my sense as well that the Metra dash kit doesnt look great. I am hoping the scosche looks better. THe JDM kit is too expensive.

Soundboy, I hear what you are saying that it would cost the same to just buy a new amp rather than use the adapter, but I am trying to keep the install as simple as possible.

I will consider running an ipod cable to the glove box, but is it hard to identify the wires coming from the OEM jacks under the AC?

No I just like having my ipod away out of sight rather then cables all over near the shifter.
