Stealth radar detector question...(??)

sup everyone ! I am actually about to purchase a radar detector for my X.

I'd like a unit that has detectors that can be mounted under the hood and the rear of the car, along with a central unit that can go on the dash or right next to the steering wheel, with a stealth display.

I've been reading forums, and i've been told that the Escort SR7 and the K-40 are good examples. However, I would rather like a central unit installed right next to my steering wheel which only display "where it is coming from", "what kind of radar is it" and "the bip + volume".

do you guys know any that kind of matches ?

thanks !

The only radar detector that will tell you the direction is Valentine1 which doesn't have the stealth mount that you want.

With today's technologies I don't believe it's worth it anymore... Don't cops in the state have Laser rador? If it's the case, then they point the car and zap whenever they are ready to take the reading... That's means, by the time you'r detector will bip, it will already be to late cause the cop took a reading of your speed...

I have the Beltronics 995i (not a stealth radar, but I live in California and its not illegal to have in the vehicle so no need to hide it). Its not bad, used it in my STi for a few years. Its able to pick up on laser detection (POP). But like the above poster stated, once they have your speed, your kinda of sheits of creek without a paddle. I believe though the officer must laser your car twice (distance factor) to get a plausible detection that could be used against you should you decide to take the infraction to court. Not 100% sure though so don't quote me on it.

The best standalone windshield detector is the Valentine1. The best cost effective all-in-one solution is the Escort Passport 9500ci. The best laser jammer is the Laser Interceptor. The combination that I would recommend would be the V1 and Laser Interceptor combo. If you live in states or provinces where these devices are illegal (parts of Canada, Virginia, etc..) I would go with a Beltronics STi-R and Laser Interceptor or a Beltronics STi and Laser Interceptor. "Laser" Jammers DO work. Effective radar jammers don't exist and they are outlawed in the US. It's a Federal crime to jam "radar" and caries something like a $25K fine and a few years in jail.

Search Youtube user "Pmoth81" for the Laser Interceptor used on my Evo9. I also run it and a Beltronics Rx-65 on my Duc.

You are right... They always take two readings... But it take less then 5 seconds to have both readings... so....

Well, you are right about the laser jammer but let's put it this way :

It's 2:00 in the morning, you are on a boulvard or the highway speeding. You are alone or almost...(meaning next car behind you or in front of you is the equivalent of (1 or 2) 52 feet truck distance.) If the cops catch you on is laser and find his laser jamed because of you jammer... 99.9% of chances that the cop will know right away that you have a jammer since he won't be able to read your speed even after trying 2-3-4 times... It will also be easy for him to know it's you because with the laser he pin point exactly witch car he want's to zap... And since you are almost alone on the road... no doubts he will pull you over... And then, you are in trouble because you have a jammer...

This story is exactly what happen to one of my friends... He lost is rader jammer and got a fine. Get your money ready cause the fine is very expensive... So, for me, I rather keep my money in my poket instead of buying a jammer and if I get caught, well, I pay for it...

Cops don't know they are being jammed and really won't think anything out of the ordinary unless you use the system incorrectly or you have some old school device installed. The correct way to use it is to adjust your speed accordingly and then turn the unit off so that the officer can get a lock. Typically, this process should be 2-4 seconds. If you jam the laser gun longer than that, you deserve to get a ticket.

I'm sorry but why would you need any of this? I have owned a few car and as the exception of the evo most cars have 2 be going fast 2 go faster. The evo has enough power as to where I can put it Down go 60 mph in 5th and get up 2 speed real quick. If u need any police buster equipment that would entail u break the law often. Slow the F down before u kill someone

If you going 15-20 mph over speed limit then yes you will have the time to adjust your speed and turn the unit off... But whats the point to pay big $$$ for that... Keep you eyes open and hit the brakes instead... It will do the same job.

I'm sorry but in my mind, if you buy a rador detector or a jammer, it's because you speed more than 15-20 mph... That means you are speeding for real (at least 30 mph and way up) Then, I garanty you that even if you jam the laser of the cop, you will never have the time to adjust your speed and turn it off. Unless you tell me the cops in your area are dum... I would also bet on the fact that if you are alone on the highway speeding crazy they will know right away that you have a jammer...

Just my 2 cent here...

Not exactly sure what you are trying to say because it makes very little sense. If you drive 65 mph in a 65 mph zone all the time, then please excuse anything posted. You are correct, everyone should slow down. However, if you are guilty of traveling 5mph or more over the posted speed limit, you too are entitled to a ticket. Or how about those speed traps where you cross from one county to the next where the speed limit drops immediately from 70 mph to 55 mph? What happens when you don't react fast enough for the officer who tags you right after you cross into his county/town/state/whatever?

Remember, there are more deaths from drunk drivers and inattentive drivers than speeding drivers each year. Most accidents can be attributed to lack of skill or distractions and NOT speed. You say people should slow down, well I say people should learn to drive.

Truth is, a really high % of sports car owners speed at some time or another. Many of them have the skill and capability to do so "safely." These "safety devices" are sort of like condoms. The quota-crazy, laser gun wielding law enforcement officers are the.... well... u know.....
And don't think cops are angels. Many of them are no different. I know a few of them that also use radar detectors and laser jammers.

I am not a big fan of speeding and certainly discourage people doing some...

One thing I agree 200% with you is those Fu....drunk drivers.... I lost a friend like that so in my mind the law is still to weak for those offenders...

DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE....
