Alarm/remote start Anyone heard of this brand?
Hi, in the market for alarm/auto start, was pretty set on the viper until someone told me this Zenensis Japanese brand is better than viper, didn't say how it is better though, so I was wondering if anyone have any experiences with it. Thanks

I was under the impression that if you had the smart key, you would not be able to have a car starter?

+1, Make sure you look into this. I Believe the ECU reads that the smart key is in range and sends power to the Ignition, if this is so, you wont be able to do this without some serious work.

I have the Clifford 50.7 security system with autostart, tilt/hood/trunk sensors, which would be like the viper and probably similar to this Japanese one you mention. It also comes with dual stage shock sensors. To do the install, they use a donar key from another type of vehicle that matches the codes for your car. The Clifford then bypasses your factory smart key for the doors, with the exception of the ignition. Therefore you unlock/disarm using the Clifford remote, and you open the door and get in your car, but unless you have your smart key with you, the car's ignition will not turn over...you need to carry both 'keys' with you. To autostart your car, you press auto-start on the Clifford. The car starts, but because the Clifford system doesn't bypass the smart key for the ignition, you have to press on the brake which stops the car from running and then you turn the key over again (the ignition is recognizing your smart key now)...what this means is to use your autostart, you have to actually start your car twice.
I got this installed at the dealership as they had donar keys, and because if something went wrong with the install they would have to cover the inspection of the electrical system...I paid way too much as you would normally expect from the dealer, but now I don't have to worry that it will have a problem...they also warranty the Clifford system they installed for 3 years under the new car warranty, so that was a plus considering all other autostarts would only be covered for less than a year maybe...and there are oten problems with security system installs.

The new Viper 5901 is pretty nice.. keyfob has a built in rechargeable battery. I would personally go with a dei product just incase something were to go wrong with it you could actually get it taken care of

Viper and Clifford are owned by the same company, so their systems are almost the same.
The Clifford 50.7 also has the rechargeable battery in the two way pager/monitor...one mile distance. Has turbo timer, etc. I haven't figured out all the bells and whistles, but the guy comes on friday to give me the teaching session...I'm only doing the basics until then.

remote start can be done on smart key, the system needs to recognize the immobilizer, therefor leaving key in car.
the batter needs to be removed from key before being installed in bypass box THERE FOR disabling ONLY THAT FAB's ability to lock, unlock and start car from just being nearby.
^^^^This has already been discussed in several other threads as you will find if you do a search
I personally have never worked with the Zenensis system, yet I have installed hundreds of DEI (aka, clifford, python, viper, etc) systems, and RARELY come across a defective unit.

For the remote start...I think it would be better to have a donar key installed instead of using one of your own smart keys...just incase you need both or in the case you lose the only one you have and then it's a big hassle.

I know mitsubishi makes a factory remote start system, I wonder if that is compatible with the smart key systems?

On another thread they discuss this Mitsubishi system, and apparently MSRP is about $600, and that might be in U.S. $'s...after the conversion, shipping, and install, it gets expensive for people in Canada. Apparently it only works for automatics, and for vehicles with production dates after June 1/08 due to the computer system in those cars. My after market system (Clifford) was installed by my dealership, and therefore carries a 3-year warranty. Also if the system fails, I'm not paying for figuring out the electical system of the car and Mitsu will cover the problem. I paid a lot ($900 which included taxes), but it gives me all the additional features such as tilt and dual-stage shock sensors, etc, over and above remote start system. Call your dealer and ask about the aftermarket systems they can install for you.

Does anyone know if the dealers offer any viable alarm options that are compatible with the FAST key?
