recomendations for Review Camera...

I have my Pioneer X910bt sitting here and I want to get a good camera that does not cost 200 dollars.

Also one with a CCD sensor would be nice.

Picked up an ebay special for cheap and it seems to work well - even has night vision.

Mine came from hong kong in about 7 business days. Gets the job done.

Whole lot more cost effective than a $300 OEM job

I just got this one and installed it the other day. (hooked up to my Pioneer Avic F700BT)

http://www.amazon.com/Audiovox-ACA20...3328862&sr=8-1

- Washed the car and sprayed soaked the camera with water --no adverse effects.
- Great color and brightness
- Great viewing angle
- Decent picture quality
- Good night picture (no IR, but everything at night shows up bright and clear within 10 feet)
- Solid metal construction.. no cheap plastic

I'd recommend it for sure.

Cool I got this one, at least if it sucks I can send it back.

The ebay one looked good, but I read some reviews on it about leaking and was turned off.

I got the same thing jamdread posted off ebay. Works like a champ. No water leaking (I wash my car at least 1/week). And even looks good in low light situations too. I don't think you have to spend more than that for a decent back up cam.

Not hard. On the back of my nav I made a cable using an old sound card connection for my PC.

Pin 3 connects to the video, pin 5 & 6 connected to ground. Still finalizing how i'm going to install it above my license plate without doing any cutting or drilling. Trying to find a 1/2" thick rubber spacer then use strong double sided tape to connect the camera to the spacer to some metal above the license plate.

Yeah, you could definitely make your own if you have an electronics store nearby...just need the right ends and a soldering iron.

So you're thinking about using the hole that is centered right above the plate? How were you planning to get the video/power into the trunk? I was thinking about running through that hole but I'd have to drill it through in to the trunk.

I also see a large black circular plastic piece that I'm assuming is a big trunk drain plug. I'd have to run the wire under the exhaust heat shield, though (I don't have stock exhaust but it still doesn't seem like a great idea).

Most aftermarket NAV systems offer them. If you're looking just for a backup camera then you could get one of the units that puts a TFT into the rearview mirror, like this one.
