Evo Scan on AVIC F series?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has Evoscan running on their avic f series and what their experience with it has been. I would love to install it on my F-series

Thanks,

Isaac

If your planning on just monitoring it through your video rca, then sure i guess.. but im sure you mean to have it function with touch as well right?
If so, i would have to say no.

Id recommend a carputer for Evoscan or buying one of their units off their site.

Otherwise you could go with HKS camp i guess, but im not sure if those log knock or not.

If you are thinking you could possibly run the EXE directly on the unit because the F series runs Windows CE, then no. Windows CE for the F series runs on an ARM architecture, whereas normal Windows apps for PCs run on either an X86 or X64 architecture. Windows CE isn't really "Windows." APIs are totally different, and the two are not compatible at all.

i'm definitely not as well versed as you on this stuff but i'm sure you can answer my question....

windows ce is basically the same as windows mobile correct? so can we put windows mobile apps on the unit?

No. Windows Mobile is what came after CE. CE has been out of active development for a while. After people got off the PDA train, and now that they can pack much more powerful processors in to the same size packages as what most of the Windows CE stuff was in (like the Intel Atom for example), CE doesn't really have a purpose anymore.

CE and Mobile are both built specifically for embedded devices and are really specially compiled for the devices that they come on. You may be able to get SOME executables from other CE devices to run on the F series, but the odds of throwing an executable compiled for a WinMo phone on an F series and getting it to run successfully are virtually null. Basically the only thing the Windows interface on the F series is good for is hacking things that already exist on the unit - like WAV sounds and nav art. That's it.
