I heard today that the vss wire is brown/white at the ECU; drivers side of the cabin intake filter. I've pretty much ditched my plans and don't have a need for this now. Hope this helps someone.

I don't think so. The dealer and I called a vendor. They asked if it was the Rockford 9-speaker system, we said yes, and they definitevly said brown/white wire at the ECU next to the cabin air filter.

I think you're on the right track. C-13 is probably the harness that the VSS wire goes into. If you can find out what color the wire is, you're golden.
If you don't have an answer by tomorrow, I'll dig in a bit.

it's pin 13.. BUT the manual doesn't give you a connect view of it. so I think I'm gonna stuck my meter in and check for an a/c singal.. it can only be one of the wires in that 17 pin connector LOL
just look at the manual and it said C-13 pin 13 R-G I'm guessing it's red with green tracer, I'll update with my install tomorrow..

just to clearify things what manual are you looking in, and if it the service manual where. i have only been able to find the vss going into the ecu. would rather grab the vss from the navagation plug like your saying.

ok I'm look at the service manual. well i installed my deck this weekend, and the vss is on the C107 connector pin 31 i think it was a white with blue tracer (note that the connector itself is 20 pins they just lablel it funny) not the c103 connector. The c103 connector is only if you have the factory navi. here is the copy and paste from the service manual
this is the big connector that plugs into the deck in the back, the other connector is for the can-bus. i forgot to take a picture. here's a pic of the vss output on my f900bt
it's reading 66.72km couldn't get a good shot, hope this helps.

Nice. Thanks for the details!
I'm sure it will help lots of people with installs. I didn't have a need for VSS on my non-Nav deck, so I didn't look into it too much.
