You would be honestly insane and would have to not care about your car if you drove with the stockers on in the snow. I tried it just to see, maybe two blocks or so and the car was all over the place, cant stop just slides.

Advans in the snow is a disaster waiting to happen. No kidding!!! Buy some tires or buy a winter beater. I bought the beater for less than new tires for the EVO, now she sits in the garage for the winter.

i got blizzaks and they are great, the advans are awesome for dry warm weahter but on ice or snow you can't stop. taking off and turning was fine but i would have to stop so far in advance and the car still had trouble. it says to get winter tires in the manual and on the door sticker, mitsubishi wasn't lying

It seems it is not well known but Yokohama does have a spec winter tire for the Evo, labeled the AVS Winter, it is availabe in proper Evo size. I have a set installed right now, although I am far from the winter weather, they are supposed to also be good in the wet (our winters), and offer very good dry handling. So far, I'm pretty impressed, but haven't driven them in the wet or snow yet.

I hope the point of this post isnt to get a majority A-OK on running the Advans in the winter. Bad bad idea! Just my 2 cents..

I have the AVS winter tires on my car right now. I have driven them on everything from dry pavement to deep snow (24+ inches) and they rock. I don't drive it skiing because I don't have a rack for it (I take my wife's RAV4) but it will go anywhere with good tires. Lots of fun too!

I tried the ADVANS in the snow once and it was a disaster waiting to happen.

I have Sumi's on (since Oct).

The way I look at it why waster the ADVANS in weather where you can't do much but wear them down anyway and you certainly can't enjoy them. A cheap set of Sumi's not only get's me through the snow it also gets the ADVANS to last twice as long.

I'll keep the Sumi's on for winter and inspection and run teh ADVANS to the cords.

The Advans are still on the car in the garage. I don't plan on driving in ice and snow. I do have the Porsche Club rally on Sunday and if it will stay dry I will drive the Evo.

3 people from our Evo-NY club totalled their cars cuz they had the stock advans on. One was in dry pavement and it still slipped because the tires get hard as a rock in cold weather, and the other 2 where on their way down to get the winter tires put on, but they didn't make it and they were totalled ... everyone please change your tires

Like my Evo to much to leave it on the Advans during winter. The Continental Extreme Contacts have served me well so far.

Ive driven a few times in the snow albeit not very far and the car wasn't that bad at all. Compared to my old 300zx TT and S2000 the EVO felt like a snow mobile. However due to the crappy weather and snow I havent driven the car in 9 days. I have a winter beater.
