Tires for My Evo
-Falken azenis Rt-615's 245/45r/17 ---- $131 ea.
-Hankook Ventus Evo K110 245/40zr/17 ---- $97 ea.
Did some research on these... trying to get some opinions from you all on here (evom). I am looking for agood set of tires that are good for my stock 06' ssl-se ix. It is not daily driven by any means.
These wheels will be used for fall and winter. I would like something that can handle some wet/cold roads for the stock wheels. It wont see snow very often. I would like a tire that has a decent tread life. These are the two tires I have heard alot about and I would like some input! Thanks.

I'm confused - are you looking for spring/summer or fall/winter tires right now?
Either way really; there are TONS of threads out there with peoples opinions.

Sorry, i know its confusing. I am looking for tires for my stock wheels that I have now which will be my fall/winter wheels.

Those are both summer tires and aren't a good choice for the cold weather. I suggest getting some all seasons.

Neither of those tires are cold weather and the 615s are not wet tires.
I suggest searching and reading a bit more.

I have falken rt 615's in 255/40/17. They are the worst tire in the world once winter hits. I had no idea something could be so slippery. Don't even consider running them unless it's going to be sunny or mildly wet and 50+ degrees.
The hankooks might be slightly better in the wet but again they are a performance summer tire that shouldn't be driven in the cold. It's not the correct rubber compound.
You definitely need a set of all season tires.
The falken ziex aren't bad price/performance wise for an all season.

Didnt see the winter part... Please don't attempt to use any type of summer tire... just search the word crash or total 75% of them are during the winter just down the street from their houses... This is still a hell of a deal for tires, i bought couple sets since theyre so cheap for my car.

Get some Blizzaks for the winter.
Those tires are SUMMER ONLY. Don't make the mistake many others do and think your "driving skillz" will save you from a wreck.

In the 245/40 our best two tires are the Michelin Pilot Sport AS+ and B-Stone RE960 A/S. A little lesser expensive option would be the Goodyear Eagle GT. All great all season options.

I am not sure what winters are like in maryland, but if you ever get snow or ice I would highly recommend spending the money on getting winter tires...a set of tires is cheaper than totalling your car. I have 615s strictly for summer play...they are terrible in any wet conditions and hydroplane at 50 mph or less. They are also very temperature dependent. There is a HUGE difference between the traction of the tires at 60 degrees plus and 50 degrees and below. I had all seasons for the last part of last winter and ended up spinning out on the I405 here in Washington. Fortunately nothing happened....and don't tell me that that was because I don't know how to drive on snow, I'm from Montana. Yes, you can maybe get through winter ok with all seasons, but why risk it. 615 and similar = summer fun tire, all season = spring and fall tire, Blizzak = winter tire. Hope that helps.

I happened to get C&D last night and while quickly flipping through I noticed an article where they put 4 different tires to the test in winter conditions (I didn't read the article yet, so I don't have fine details). IIRC, one of the all-season tires did almost as well as one of the dedicated M+S tires.
FWIW - it was not a shootout between different companies, simply a test between one company's different tires. I can't find the article on their website, but let me know if you want details and I'll get the mag.
As everyone else has said, the 2 tires you listed are not for the winter, and I imagine Maryland can have decent winters. I would personally go with the Hankooks over the Falkens in the summer, though. In a summer tire shootout the Hankooks took 2nd place overall behind the Star Specs. In some categories they even surpassed the Star Specs.
