Rotas?

I am looking for new wheels for my IX MR and people keep telling me to get Rota's. A local guy here with an IX has them and they look great, but i always here people saying there "just" rotas. is there something wrong with them?

Alot of people talk bad about them because they try to look like other "expensive" wheel companies. Rota's are basically like when you go to the store you can get Lays classic potato chips or the 'Food Lion original chips'. They aren't made with the same quality, but some people can't tell the difference between the two.

depends on what your definition of "wrong" is. People knock them because they are well just that. They are cast knock off designs of popular wheels. I sport them because they do the job and were cheap, but eventually everyone upgrades to the real thing in the very end.

I have Volks on my car but would have no issue rocking ROTA's whatsoever.

Some people have cracked Rota's - which is why they get a bad wrap. Do some searching and you'll find some threads.

In the end, any cast rim won't be as strong as a forged rim. If cost is an issue though, do what ya need to do.

Rotas are not bad at all. There replicas of other wheels(TE37, works, etc)..

FYI, you can crack/break ANY wheel whether it be $100 a wheel or $500 a wheel.

I rocked rota torques on my prelude and will rock rota's on the evo. I just can't justify spending $2000 on some rims even though I work for discount tire and get wheels pretty cheap. Bending a $500 wheel then having to replace it just doesn't feel good on the wallet.

thats all it is some people feel you are ripping off the company by buying a knock off blah blah blah think about putting them out of business. im sure that company is not going hungry for one sale. i flip flop between getting jdm wheels or rota. after spending 1500 for rims on my z then spending another 1500 to upgrade im like this is stupid i could have got a upgraded turbo again for my evo if i just would have bought some rotas as stated a rim is a rim. rotas will get the job done and not cost you the joy of getting other parts at the end of the day.

I rock Rotas and love them. They are lighter than my stock Enkeis and like others have said if you bend or break a Rota it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to replace. Also like others have said it is possible to break a $500 rim just like it is possible to break a $120 rim. In the end you are the one paying for it so do what you like.

Exactly, its when people try to pass off rota's as the real thing that gets everyone riled up. You bought a replica; say it's a replica. Nothing wrong with that.

I'd love to buy Rotas, if they made a wheel light enough. That's why I run RPF1s - 15.5lbs per corner. Unlike the RPF1s, some of the Rotas look great with many color/finish options as a bonus. Their weight is the only issue, at least for me.

Granted there are lighter wheels out there but Rotas are still lighter than my stock Enkeis.

Don't make this mistake of discounting the effect of rotational mass on every aspect of performance at every level.
