Is it time to step up to a wider tire?

Well I'm in the market for tires and based on my power level, do you think a wider tire would benefit me? I'm still on the stock BBS wheels. Should I go with a 255/245 or stick with the 235? For what it's worth I'm thinking of buying the Falken 912s since I do get snow in my area and unfortunately have to drive my EVO in the winter. Any insight would be appreciated!

No. Don't run a A/S tire that is wider. Rule of thumb is narrow for winter, wide for summer.

Get OE or narrower good all seasons or snows.

Save up and get summers that are wider...

Well, I say that before asking this - use for tire? DD/AX/track?

If a DD, a wider, lower profile tire will hurt acceleration, but helps with ultimate grip. Nice to have on track or AXing.

Drives: 2004 Accord LX / 03 Apex Silver= Its back Baby!!

I just drove a friends car with 255's on the BBS this past weekend during an autox. Personally I felt like the tire was squirming around a lot on the wheel. I know a lot of people run this set and really like. Maybe I'm just not used to the feel and thats why I thought it felt weird... don't know. I can tell you Tirerack recommends a 8.5" wheel for a 255 tire.

If your going to an all-season I would stick with the 235, but thats me.

Well my car is kinda a DD, but I also have a beater for those really BAD days.

Oh no, when I bought the car, the Advans had been long gone.

I appreciate your offer, however I'm more interested in all seasons so I don't have to keep swapping wheels/tires.

I did not have any issues with running 255 tires on both my stock enkei and 17x8.5, felt the same using the same tire
