check Caranddriver.com for their recent tire shootout (search tires). The shootout was last month on tires such as the Z1 (cheap-ish high performance tires), and the Z1 took first. 2nd place was the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo that performed close ot the Z1 (better in some cases) that was even cheaper. The Hankook R-S3 wasn't out in time for the shootout, but might be better.

I think their biggest beef with the Hankook was that it didn't feel as solid as the Z1 even though it performed close to on par. I will be getting Z1's or maybe even try the Hankooks when my KDW2s wear out (long tread life, decent performance, very loud!).

Have had these tires for about 3K miles and am absolutely please with them. They are getting a little louder, which doesn't really bother me as this is a race car. To me, weather the roads surface is wet or dry, these tires inspire more confidence when pushing the car to its limits than the Advans.

I actually just bought a fresh set of the Z1 Star Specs in stock size last Thursday to replace my factory A046s which should be done within the next couple of months. I got mine for $527 for all four (including all taxes and fees)... and that's before the $60 mail-in rebate

Where did you buy them? My stock AO46 Advans have 16,000 Miles on them and I will probably be replacing them by 20,000 Miles.

I like mine a lot. I've logged 12k so far on em. DD only. But then again I had my stockers for 38K or so.

I have a hard time believing that the stock A046s lasted for "38k or so"

PM me, I'd rather not make posts to take away from a forum sponsor, especially on this specific wheels and tires forum.

Check this tire test from the Tirerack: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=118

I have had mine for @8k with two hard track days. They wear better on the track than the stock Advans. Handling wise, I think they give up a tiny bit of ultimate grip and turn in response, but are more predictable when they start to slide. For the money, I think these are the best do it all tires out right now.

If you are so worried about wear, get something with a higher tread life.
