C8 Coilover/Alignment Issues

6 months ago, I installed C8 coilovers. It dropped it ~1.75". Mitsubishi did an alignment after the install and said that they were unable to get the car aligned properly because they maxed out the adjustment on the unit and still needed more. I'm not all that up to speed on suspension and was wondering (while I'm waiting on an e-mail back from Mitsu) if anyone had any ideas. Additionally, since it's been out of alignment, at least one of my struts is now bad. Anyone know what is going on with this? C8 is saying it should work fine for my EVO viii.

Maxed out on what? Camber, toe, caster? Did they come w/ camber plates? By "Mitsubishi", do you mean your local Mitsubishi dealer?

Yeah, local dealer. I think I know what's going on. My bushings are shot. It's really bad on wet roads. It feels like all 4 tires want to go a different direction. I'm ordering up a new set of polyurethane bushings and then get an alignment right away. That should explain why the dealer thought they ran out of adjustment too, right?

I haven't heard of that happening before, but others can chime in if they have. Unless you know this dealership has a solid reputation for alignments, I wouldn't trust their judgment. I'd take it to an alignment shop with a good reputation before I went further with throwing parts at it, although poly bushings are nice to have.

Maxed out on what & where? Camber, toe, caster? Front or rear? Are your stock camber adjustment bolts set to full negative camber w/ the coilovers?

My subframe is off from the factory, requiring extra negative camber on one side than the other, and which limits me to a max value of around -3.2 camber on the front. I'm assuming they are aligning it to spec?

Maybe you should get some stace coilover set. I got my aligned with no problem and I lowered it about 2-2.5in.

think the dealer just doesnt know what they are doing to be honest. Take it to a real shop and have it corner balanced and performance aligned.

Ask your local forums for a good alignment shop...
