Of the bunch I'd look at the Z1's first. Hands down been the most successful tire on this board for quite some time.

Option 4: Get some R888's or some advans... my stock advans are about done in the sides... and my car has 1500 miles on it... sticky tires FTW... remember... the crappier your tire... the crappier your skid pad...

Dunlops all the way.
I have a customer that loves his. He bought them in stock size and 255 for a wide look on different rims.

I will throw in another recommendation for the Star Specs. IMO, Not quite as much grip as the Stock Advans but a very good tire for the money.

I own the Star spec and in the 245/45 size and regret not buying the more expensive 245/40 The sidewalls definitely flex more than stock Advan and the tread blocks seem to squirm prolly due to how much meat (tread depth) the tires come with. while I'll agree the Dunlops are a good tire I'm not so sure about great. I realize I might be the minority but its' how I feel. At higher speeds and bumpy roads due to sidewall "softness" the car is not as poised once again my opinion and comparison to stock Advans'

I agree with you about the size. The Z1 245/40s feel MUCH more precise than the 245/45s. Well worth any price difference to get the lower profile. The 40s also wear better when pushed, due to less roll-over.
The 40 series and below are great!

That's the info I've read as well. There's some new ones coming NT05 and AD08; but not mass available yet.

Any reason no one has mentioned running a 255/40 Star Spec? It's as closer to the original overall diameter of the stock wheels and tires. I run them and love em.
