Tire Size for Stock BBS Wheels?

The evo needs some new shoes, what's a good tire size to run on the stock 17" BBS wheels?

255/40/17?

The car is sitting on MR Bilsteins and Swift Springs, 1.4" drop in the front and 0.8" in the rear.

Thanks!

I hear the RT-615's wear a bit fast, but they are a good tire, not gonna debate that. I'd go with the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec's or the Bridestone Potenza RE-01R's (more expensive than the star specs, but handle slightly better). And yes you can fit up to a 255.

I spent some time searching, but really didn't find a thread that gave a clear answer. It seemed like there was far too much conjecture.

Also, thank you for the correction on the springs.

Wow, lots of misinformation here still.

1) Falken 615s are not that great anymore. They need to update their compound to keep up with the Dunlops and B'stones.

2) The Dunlop Z1 Star Specs handle better than the B'stone REO1Rs:

Here is the tire best to ok:
Z1 Star Specs > B'stone REO1R > Falken 615s

Ah, not in the street tire classes in AX or Time Attacks. But for a DD - summer street only tire - sure its still ok. But its not at the levels of the newer tires.

Which ones? Proxes 4 all seasons, T1Rs - summers, RA1s - R comps?

I have driven on the 4s - ok, all seasons, not much to say. And I am looking at the RA1s as a contender for my next season.

Well, I need something to replace my Advans and I'm not that familiar with the different lines of Toyo Proxies tires.

Which tire would be a respectable replacement? Here in the Bay Area, we can get away with summer tires a pretty good portion of the year. I need a set of tires I can use for the occasional HPDE or auto-x event not to mention daily driving.

Thanks for your help SmikeEvo!

The RA1s would be the best tire out of the Toyo bunch. But they will wear quickly and they are more expensive.

Again, one of the best replacements are the Dunlop Z1 Star Specs. I ran them as my AX/HPDE/Summer tire over this last year.

Go w/ Bridgestones RE01R in 245/40 17 or Dunlop Z1 same size. If on a budget go w/ Falken azenis.
