Those older cars get harder to JCI after a while and its just cheaper for the average Japanese person to get a new car. If you go to Tokyo count how many cars there you see that are over 10 years old. Its a good thing for people outside of Japan though.

Thanks!! It was a little more money than what these clips usually go for, but it was worth it.

As soon as I get some more updates, I'll post them up. I'm currently looking for a white Mirage and am going to be putting mine up for sale today.

I plan on using everything I can from this clip. Steering wheel, cluster, etc. I'll keep my eyes open for you though.

This is true. I lived in Japan for a couple years when I was younger and had heard while I was out there that people get taxed heavily for older cars and that it's not worth keeping.

Why dont you just keep your car and primer the whole thing til you are ready for paint.

I thought about that but the panels I received with my clip are actually in excellent condition and most of the surface imperfections from shipping will buff out. It would be cheaper/easier in the long run if I found one that was already white and transferred my panels over (i.e. not painting door jambs, trunk jambs, engine bay, etc.). Even if I decided to repaint, not having to do a color change would save lots of money and give it a more factory appearance. The Mirage paint code for white is the same as the Evo which is w83 (innsbruck white, weightless white, whatever else it's been named lol).

I do have a local lead on a silver Mirage that has a blown motor. Still not white but I may consider it since it's only $400 and I could probably get $1000 from mine. I'll use the extra money to get the roof, jambs, and quarter panels painted and that could work as well. I could do that and paint the engine bay black but I may leave the engine bay gray/silver since I've heard that most race/track cars prefer a light color to make it easier to spot leaks.

Otherwise, there's quite a few white ones in Vegas and one in Amarillo that I may pick up if nothing pops up locally. New Mexico sucks for finding cars, except that they're rust free

Thanks!! My wife has a real hard time seeing the potential in this build. All she sees is a cheap econo Mirage but I see it as giving the Mirage the future it deserved when it was being built.

Thanks!!! I lucked out really. It was a little more than what I've seen these go for, but you get what you pay for I guess. It's got a couple minor scuffs that should be able to get touched up. Otherwise, it just has some surface marks that should buff out no problems.
