98 Mirage to Evo 6.5 TME

Here you will truly see the Evolution of a Mirage.

Having realized the US Mirage was the base for the JDM Lancer Evolution 4/5/6's I set out to make one of those a reality. Moving from 5 to 6, 6 to 5, I finally decided to reproduce the uncommon Tommi Makinen Edition Evo (6.5). And here is how it all started:

The previous owner smashed up the front end (clean title though) so I picked it up for $900. The hood was pinned in place, so it was pulled before I took her home. Unbolted it and crushed it in half right there in the parking lot. It needed headlights, a hood, bumper core, and a front bumper. The radiator is slightly busted up, but she still runs cool. AC is broken though.

Closer pics of the damage:

I will post what I did next soon, I don't want to flood the page with pictures just yet.

Thanks! Here is what happened on the second day (picked up parts from CertiFit)

The frame was pulled on the rack and new headlights, corner lamps, and hood were installed. Took about 5 hours on and off to do everything.

Alrighty then:

JDM Evo 5 trunk. I picked this up locally for $400 with the reflectors.

Installed on the car (you can see the old muffler too

You can also see I installed fender sidemarkers $20

Muffler $10

Evo 8 rear seat $100

Lancer Emblem

Evo 5 style hood (free swap) needs modification/repair

JDM Evo 6 tails

All 18 of the spoiler holes for the E5 wing. I will only use 6.

Trunk with Evo 6 wing attached. Trunk is in the shop getting welded and painted

Evo 6 fenders put on for fitting, Evo headlights installed

Phew. Thats the current status.

Oops, forgot to say this is an ongoing project! I am test fitting the side flares today and possibly purchasing hood pins since the hood is warped.

I can have the entire project done by October if anyone wants to donate 5 grand for an Evo 4/5 front clip on eBay
