How thick is the steel piping for the uicp. I don't know if i want to just drill a hole in the piping 1/8npt for my meth nozzles or just have a bung welded.

.065 - We can put a bung on the pipe if needed, that way it can be powdercoated. Let me know!

hey michael I was wondering a few things about ic selection. My car is a track car with a cwest front. I have had your 3" standard tank before and loved it. I currently have a AGP and it fits like complete garbage so I want to trash it and go back to your stuff. I notcied on your site it states that you guys recomend the standard version for viii's but for overall flow wouldn't I be best off going with the wide tank simply for more volume? Also would there be any up side to ordering a 3" inlet/outlet and running a 2 1/2-3" coupler or would it not make any difference. Thanks for your help.

Hello Steve,
I'm glad to hear the 3" ETS intercooler worked out well for you in the past and sorry to hear about the AGP intercooler not fitting correctly.
We recommend running the standard (24") version on any car with enough room for 24" of surface area.
The reason we designed the evolution 9 intercooler is the opening is 24" wide then tapers down to 22" on the 9 front bumper.
The 24" core will work on the evolution 9, but it does no good having 2" of core behind the bumper, when that 2" could be used for better air distribution by using a wider end tank.
I would recommend going with a 3" in / out if you plan on making over 700hp and want to run 3" piping in the future. The 2.5" will work on 90% of the cars out there. We have ran several 9 sec passes on 2.5" piping.
Thanks,
Michael

Which intercooler would work best with the IX bumper and would the thicker cores present any fitment issues?

I would recommend a widetank core, since the opening of the 9 bumper is only 22" wide. This way we can go with wider end tanks for better air distribution through the core. The standard tank intercooler will fit, but you will have 2" behind the bumper which won't help much.
The 3.0" and the 3.5" will fit with no modification to crash beam. The 4.0" requires trimming on the inside of the bumper beam. All intercoolers bolt on in factory locations and keep the factory under tray.
If you have any other questions let me know!
Thanks,
Michael
