Strobe Install

I have have a strobe system that mounts in the headlight and tail light housing, that requires a 1" hole to be drilled out. I attempted to install these strobes in a prievious car but durring the process of drilling the holes, the chrome reflective material that lines the headlight began to chip and flake while drilling. does anyone know a sucessful way to mount strobes into evo light housings, without flakeing that chrome finish?
