Cool aluminum gurney flap

so on my quest for finding cheap solutions i decided to make my own gurney flap.

i bought a piece of angle aluminum from Lowe's. i dont remember how much it was but i think it was around $5.00

you need a riveting gun, rivets, drill, and clamps to hold in place.

it doesnt need to be a tall flap. general rule of thumb is 4% of the top surface area of the wing. so the best thing i could find was 3/4" x 3/8" and i have the shorter side up.

started from one end and put in the rivets and bent the aluminum to contour with the wing and held in place with clamps.

here is the finished product. took me about 30 minutes.

Creative I suppose, but I'd rather spend the $50 for one and not risk damage to my $1400 stock wing and have the option to later remove it if I decide to.

risky yes but worth it still in my opinion.

plus, using the aluminum there is no way to keep it contoured to the wings curve unless you can find one that is already bent.

You drilled your CF wing ?

Sorry man, the exposed rivets look real cheap.

Buy a Rexpeed one and call it a day.

I think he's trying to justify why he spent so much money instead of using his ****ing brain like you did.
