Programming a New Key
For everyone who needs to program a new key you must have the following:
The new key chipped and cut
2 existing working keys
1. Insert a working key and turn it to the on position for 5 secs
2. Turn the key to off and remove
3. Insert the second working key and turn it to the on position and wait for the Theft-Alarm indicator to blink twice
4. Insert your new chipped key and switch the key to the on position and again wait for the Theft-Alarm indicator light to come on and this time it will stay on for 3 seconds.
If the Alarm blinks three times there was an error and start the process over again.
If you do not have the second key be ready to sell body parts to a dealer to reflash your ecu.

Great info, but I'm curious about the "sell body parts" bit. I lost my Evo key last year, and had the keys changed at the dealership, cost me like $250 total (3 keys, reflash/recode). I did verify that the old keys (valet and wife's) no longer functioned ...
Was my dealership just being nice ?

Great info...
I see most EVO owners don't read their owner's manual.

Part #6370A064 (Key Transponder) $24.30/each
I did it at Schaumburg Mitsu since it's a few blocks from my workplace....Most dealerships charge you $45-$50 for the flash if you bring in your own keys...

Thanks! I just placed an order and I will also get it flash from Schaumburg. Was there any person I should deal with to get it flashed?

Help...
The part listed above "transponder" is for the remote, not for the actual key.
I ran the part number off the back of my remote and I get the same link listed for the key. Or, does this part include the key and remote?

It's key only, even though the remote number brings up the same part.
