Headlight Adjustment

I posted this info in response to another thread elsewhere, but it probably is better suited here aswell in the how-to section.

The following is one method and the one I used to succesfully adjust the headlights. I don't have first hand experience with any other methods like using a screw driver or torx wrench, but if there are any others out there that have experiences or other ways of succesfully adjusting the lights feel free to contribute.

Tools used.
- 1/4" drive
- 10mm socket
- drive extension (optional)

Here's the driver side with the socket drive on the adjustment nut. Turn counter-clockwise to raise.

Passenger side with the coolant overflow bottle moved over to the right. The socket drive also has a 3" extension on it to reach the nut a little easier. Again counter-clockwise to raise.

This technique worked perfectly for me. Now my lowered Evo has proper headlight coverage. The whole thing took maybe 15 minutes.

Same here. I'd recommend it. It was one of the easiest and best improvements I've done.

I must be nuts, the only adjustments I can seem to make are on the fog lights and the high beams. What am I missing here?

I did mine last night just as shown in the above pictures and I must say it was much easier than everyone is making it out to be in some of the other posts on the same subject.

i used a big philips screwdriver and it took about 15 min. very easy.

The plastic gear may be slipping. Mine did. I had to use a flathead screwdriver to coax it along, in combination with the 10mm socket. The metal gear adjusts the high beams and the plastic gear does the lows. Most people are moving both with this method.

Guys please note that the pics that nOOdle posted are showing adjustment for the high-beam bulb! The driving light bulb adjustment nut/screw [HID] is the next one over towards the fender! Same general area with reference to the pics [which are for adjusting the highs] but directly behind the HID bulbs!
As stated in the previous posts with reguards to this subject, the proceedure takes only a few minutes. I didn't even have to use the ratchet handle to turn the nut.

According to service manual I've got the right adjustment, not to mention many others who have successfully adjusted their headlights over here.... Easy way to raise/lower headlights

And the manual mentions that there is no seperate High beam adjustment. It moves with the low beam. I suspect the adjustment you're making is to the fog lamps.

WSPY is actually correct .. unless you don't have a electronic tilting headlight .. there's actually THREE screwy things ..

the low beam control is also different .. it's encased in a plastic .. and you need to make sure the light is off when you adjust .. otherwise the headlight electronic tilt will go crazy everytime the light is turn on ..

Where your photo show is for the high beams .. and closer towards the radiator .. there's another adjustment knob for the foglights .. it's higher up and rather inset ..

Again .. I have not seen the non electric tilt headlights .. so your instructions may still hold

Alright, but let me repeat... according to the manual there's no seperate highbeam adjustment some keep referring to. But hey... whatever works.

I did my headlights last night exactly according to the pics and info posted by n00dle and everything worked fine...
