hm...mine didnt come like that. Possibly to hold the filter? You might want to try contacting a vendor about that. Or maybe some-else can chime in.

The curved bracket is held on with the hose clamp. The 'L' bracket mounts to that and the other end should be bolted to the car somewhere (directly underneath). This is to take the weight of the filter/MAF, and stop it from moving around. When you accelerate hard, your engine moves (the engine mounts are like suspension and allow some movement). The filter/hoses can get damaged eventually if not secured.

I just installed this on my V. Everything was easy until I had to remove the MAS from the airbox. I literally had to cut the box until I could clamb the screws and take them off with a drill. It took me 2 hours to do this...

There is nothing against hard work  . Can you maybe give me some feedback on this intake kit? Because I really don't know wether to just get a new drop-in or get the HKS intake kit..(does it make alot of difference?) cheers

IMO you should get an open filter intake of some kind, the airbox is more restrictive even with a drop in. I have the HKS and it works great - I am wondering though about the cone filter HP advantages vs this one though.
Can anyone else confirm Mike's results of 5-8hp increase by switching to a cone vs the hks?

couple of q's mate.
1. did you mount the pod to the mounting locations where the stock box was mounted?
2. why do you have to leave it idle for 5mins??
3. it feels a bit weak at low RPM around 1000ish (e.g. parking), the evo dies pretty easily at low RPM compared to before, I thought there must be a leak somewhere, but there is nothing wrong when I re-check everything has been tightened.

1. can you take a pic about what you are referring to? I'm not sure what pod you are talking about.
2. letting it idle gives the ecu time to adjust itself to the improved flow. (you'll need a tune to reap the full benefits of a new intake)
3. It shouldnt die at low rpms. Make sure that the pipe is around the entire turbo inlet. Sometimes I noticed that the rubber couplers would not entirely be around the inlet. You might need to lift the car up and check it from the bottom.
4. Did you drop the maf? If not, try some maf cleaner, it might help.
5. Also check to make sure the gasket below the maf is properly in place.

Hi..
Thanks for the reply, guys.
I was referring to the pod itself and the AFM, whether they are mounted somewhere?
I was wondering because the stock mount is removed, so arent we supposed to mount the pod somewhere now, to avoid movements?
