RRE Cam Install Video

I found this on streetfire tonight. I had not yet seen a video on a cam install, and I figured it might help out a few people. There is a disclaimer that says it's not suppose to be used as a write up or tutorial, but I think it's pretty good anyhow.

The only thing I would have liked to see in the video was bleeding the lifters. I've seen some people post that you technically don't need to bleed them, and then other people (including vendors) say it's a must. I've never done it personally. I've read about how to do it, but it's always nice to actually SEE someone do it step by step, much like this video...it's one thing to read about a cam install, but much easier to watch someone do it.

The only thing that I see so far thats wrong is the fact that the cam cap bolts should not be torqued to 20-25 fl lbs... Its 14-15 ft lbs...

This was taken from another post about installing cams on a mivec engine...

you can either stuff a rag in under the mivec gear when you remove the aluminum cap it will spill some oil out of it. Keep that off the timing belt. you can zip tie the belt to the gear and use the timing belt tensioner tool just like on an 8. the 9 mivec doesn’t require any bleeding. and as far as the lifters go, not really necessary unless you have the car sitting for days or weeks.

One thing to watch out for if you remove the timing belt completely. Watch the Oil Pump gear and make sure that it doesn’t move. There is a balance shaft behind it and that can actually go 360 degrees out, and all the marks will line up, but it will be out. it will cause the motor to vibrate badly at about 4k rpms plus.

Same thing except you basically install both cams like the intake cam. Also the intake cam uses a 14mm allin key instead of a bolt on the cam gear.

He makes that look SO easy. I am more tempted than ever to do this myself even though I've never done cams before.
