Its possible. I hate throwing virtaul dyno numbers out here, but they are close to being right. My vd readings show me at 576hp. This is on an hta86 at 30psi on pump. I would think its safe to say I am over 500whp on a dynojet. As for a mustang, dunno, but Ill find out next friday at buschurs! lol

I daily my car since I've decided not to sell it. It is a PITA to drive. I have more fun driving on low boost (550 hp) then on high boost (700+). The reason being there is no reason to have that kind of power on the street. Most fun I had in my car was when it had 420ish on a BBK. Now it's a little bit of a chore.

I say all of that but once I punch it I'm all smiles and I forget about civility.

I personally believe that 500whp and 475wtq on E85 is perfect for how I use my EVO. The torque is insane and the horsepower can contend against nearly anything in town.

ive been over 500whp for 2years now and i daily drive my car in all seasons plus i have no garage so my car realy hates me. if you get the right clutch then you wont notice much of a difference. i had a ACT xdss that shifted like ****, a qm twin that shifted great but sounded and drove like a racecar, now im on a carbonetics tripple that is the best yet. has little noise, shifts perfect, and street driving is as easy as a stock clutch.

i daily drove my 665whp evo with 272 cams, exedy twin disk, garret 35r and fic 2150cc injectors... all in which are a pain to drive with on their own.. but with a proper tune and appropriate driving you can drive it just fine.

so it is possible to find a clutch that isn't a pain in the ***, and can handle the occasional launch with 550 WHP?

Agreed Smurf... honestly 407 whp feels like way too much for public roads to me. Almost impossible to actually get into boost without getting pulled over immediately. One of the reasons I drive my car less and less on the road and more and more on the track. That being said, my car isn't as powerful as the OPs question, but it's gutted, caged, with no AC, no stereo etc and I drive it around on public roads still. It's a blast when I can get into boost without being pulled over.

track cars are def not street friendly, but as far as a full car should be with a higher hp setup witha bigger turbo is very streetable because you can let it lag and stay out of boost nearly all the time if you prefer

i would do a act street disc with a upgraded pressure plate and flywheel for sure but they are a very streetable clutch and mine held 450whp on my old car great.

When my car was 500whp it was the most fun I've ever had with it. Now that it's 700+ it's nearly not as fun anymore, it's more of a pain in the *** trying to keep it on the damn road when you mash the gas

i enjoy driving my evo on the pump 92 map (580+whp) more so than on the e85 map (700+whp). the car isn't exactly the most comfortable, is loud, and where i live, don't really get the chance to do any pulls to get the most enjoyment out of the power. most of the high horsepower guys only get to enjoy the power on the drag strip. with that said, my built 2.4 has been going strong for more than 10k miles now, with countless dyno pulls and several drag passes.

I run the Competition Clutch Stage 2 without any issues making 500whp+ and nearly 500wtq from a LR 2.4L.

FP red and built motor is a great way to go for a street car, anything more and you get into the more track/race car mode IMO.
