my girlfriend would love this....she drives my car on occasion and she'll stop and ask me what gear shes in? haha not for me but i know she would like it

If they were to integrate electronics into a shift nob, I would suggest a multi-color shift light. It glows green at lower RPM, than as your RPMs increase it begins to turn yellow then reaches bright red at... you guessed it- redline.

Still ricey, but a bit more practical to normal drivers.
