Help, Evo IX front bumper on VIII

I have searched......and can not find anything confirming what is needed for fitment.

I am looking at putting the ix front bumper on my VIII

I know I need to purchase the bumper, chin and grill inserts.

What about the bumper beam (same? different?)
What about the metal reinforment pieces?
What about the little foam pieces?
Will the splash shield clip up to the new bumper?

Any one do this and remember in detail what it takes?

Or you can direct me to the info.

Thanks ,Matt

Thanks,

So I need the 3 reinforment bars/pieces also. Under each headlamp and the one at the top?

Any idea on what all of the extra pieces added up to?

....insurance will cover the front bumper cover and the lip because of some damage.......I have to cover the "extras" (grilles, reinforment bars...) to make it work.

Thanks again,
Matt

quote from otbEVO from socalevo:

Alright, since I just went to the Mitsubishi dealership today and purchased all the parts necessary to do the VIII to IX front bumper conversion, I figured I would do everyone a favor and post all the necessary part numbers from Mitsubishi. These part numbers are for the USDM front bumper that doesn't have those annoying holes punched through them like the JDM bumpers. Be aware that these come unpainted also... only JDM bumpers come painted from the factory. The only color available painted from the US is the White.

These are the part numbers for all the body pieces and mesh pieces you will need. All other parts are swappable from the VIII bumper to the best of my knowledge. I hear some people are swapping the lower meshes from the VIII with modification, but if you don't want to bother, then the part numbers are listed. Also, the upper center mesh is almost mandatory as it contains a bracket for the bumper to mount up to the bumper reinforcement, so I wouldn't forego that one. If something changes with the body shop, I'll update this post.

6400B002WA- Front Bumper Cover
6512A149WA- Lip Spoiler
6400B288- Additional part of the Lip Spoiler for the passenger side
6402A033- Upper Center Mesh (where badge goes)
6400A384- Lower Center Mesh (covers intercooler)
6400A390- Duct for Oil Cooler
6400A391XA- Cover for bolt on left side of intercooler
6400A392XA- Cover for bolt on right side of intercooler
6402A023- Lower Left Mesh
6402A024- Lower Right Mesh

All these pieces at list cost will run you around $1500.00, but if you can get the body shop pricing or a discount from some of our Mitsubishi Dealership vendors then it should run you around $1175.00 or so. That's it.

Need to bump this thread up as I just went with the 9 bumper too. Does anyone have the part number for the left and right reinforement bar?

Also with the upper grille...the bottom of it just dangles, what part is needed to secure the bottom of the upper grille?

Thanks in advance

Is this lower lip spoiler part#6512A149WA? I have part #6400B002WA (the face kit) and I have seen two different part numbers for the lower lip on here. The other lower lip part number is #6512A046WA. Does anyone know the difference between the two lips? There must be a difference or they wouldn't have different part numbers. I am amazed at how useless the parts guy at the dealership is on this. I need to order whichever lip will be best for attaching the APR front wind splitter. Some help on this would be great as I need to order a part ASAP!
