Evo holds (or held) the G's record?
I thought I read about an Evo on BFGoodrich tires held the record at like 1.07?
Now it looks like a Z06 did a 1.08 on Pirelli's or Michelins to tie the record held by?
Just curious how the Evo can hang w/ the big dawgs

Saw it in a magazine ad-Maybe they were just showing a pic of an Evo? Thought it mentioned Vishnu though?

I seriously doubt an AWD vehicle could hold the laterally G's record. Front engine rear wheel drive is much better suited mathematically to do better on this type of performance test.

Link to article, please.
It's hard to believe that an Evo which pulls .87 on the skid pad stock, can do that much better with different tires. The stock Advans are pretty much the best street tires you can get, so i doubt changing the tires would let it throw down 1+ G's.
And i guess it's hard for me to believe the Z06 holds the record now with it's "high-tech" leaf spring suspension setup, though i do know the car has pretty effective handling charectoristics, so it's not TOO hard to believe that part.

Actually, I think I've seen the ad in one of the tuner mags --- it shows a (Vishnu?) evo lifting it's inner front wheel going around a turn, and I seem to remember it saying something about a cornering (force?) record . . . FWIW.

Exactly the ad I was referring to-I'll have to look back through some old mags-I also thought Vishnu pulled like a 1.03 In the 0-150-0 deal?
Obviously other mods were done besides just the tires to get over 1g
In the last Lap of America Martin Musial & team pulled a .999 w/ their Evo-Same place that the Z06 tied the record at 1.08

Believe or not, this is true. It's suspension is very primitive, yet it can still handle very well (mostly due to its low center of gravity).

I have seen a similiar ad that BFG shows. I dont know if it is a world record for G's or just a record for some smaller class.

Corvette is not to be confused with leaf spring suspensions used in trucks and older cars; they are two completely different things. The Corvettes transverse leaf springs serve the same purpose as coil springs in other vehicles, but they are lighter, allow for the vehicles mass to be closer to the ground, and allow for lighter anti-roll bars since they can assume some of that duty. They're main disadvantage is that they are more expensive than coil springs.
Now i got it
