factory boost gauge --> HKS

I'm thinking about ordering a 46mm HKS mechanical gauge to replace the OEM Mitsubishi boost gauge...

Will I need to buy any additional wiring? The OEM gauge hooks to a vacuum hose and power source. I drew a black line to show the power input and red line to show the vacuum input...

Aside from maybe an extra foot of vacuum line (depending where I install it), will I need some sort of special adaptor so I can power the HKS gauge off the old line? Will I have to find a new power source?

Ignorance on my part, sorry. I don't know the answer.

I'm not familiar with those specific HKS gauges, but I'm pretty sure the wiring will be different. All the gauges I know of take 3 power source wires - 1 for on/off (so the gauges go on when you turn the key on), 1 for illumination & 1 ground, so you most likely will not be able to use the same connector for the two prong plug on the back of the stock gauge. Your gauges should come with instructions (hopefully they aren't in Japanese :P) so those should help out. And, it shouldn't be too hard to use the same vacuum source - you might need an adaptor, but it should still work.

Either way, it's not like installing a boost gauge with its own vacuum source and wiring is tooooo difficult and there are plenty of How-To's for you to read up on.

Good Luck

all you need is a vaccum line and a power source to run a boost gauge. nothing else is needed to have the gauge work. the only thing that might cause a problem is maybe mounting it. i am not sure how the oem gauge cluster holds its gauges.
