Ball bearing conversion for stock turbo?
#4
good question mate. these things are big in the UK and are a VERY good way of getting a lagless turbo that will still produce 400bhp. and you can run them at upto abput 2.3 bar hehehe. 400+lbs ft from the stock turbo anyone?
thanks Chris.
PS. PM me if you want anymore info on what some of the conversion are!

Chris,
I tried to check out Evo 400's products from a link off of lancerregister. When i did a lot of pop-ups, which included the Manfred virus, came up and kept me from actually checking anything out.
You might want to let them know.

Here is a place that seems to have ball bearing turbo upgrades for the EVO. Anybody ever heard of these people? http://www.essexturbos.com/enter.htm

I don't know why any of the US tuners have played with this thought at all. It seems like a fairly simple way to give the stock turbo more efficiency. Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I'm interested in this.

im pretty sure that www.turbochargers.com does it, because i was looking into getting it. It costs like 800 bucks......

The problem with turbochargers.com is nobody has one yet, at least a production unit.. I think I had e-mailed them awhile back and got an answer that they weren't shipping yet.
I'd love to do a BB Conversion to the new JDM turbo I picked up.. But only if it retained the Titanium components that I got it for..

A bb conversion on the Ti turbo found in the RS (and the MR I think) would be the best option. The Ti turbos are stronger anyway and the BB bearings will add to that and reduce spool-up/lag. Definitely the way to go!
Essex turbos are ok I think but EVO 400 conversion is the best.
Glad to hear that someone in the states is trying to do it. It’s by far the best (and cheapest) way of getting at turbo that will produce 400bhp and boost at up to 2.4 bar!!!!
Thanks Chris
