What a broken 6 speed looks like..

Finally opened my broken 6 spd box...

you can really see the thin 4th cog, and thick 1st, 2nd, and 3rd..

Also, the housing on the rear AYC diff broke.. Transfer box looks ok...

bought two good 6 spd boxes with broken cases (they usually break on the top of the bell in front end accident)... will transfer all the gears into my case..

I will install a transmission cooler as I suspect this is a result of a lot of track miles I did (I do not drag, no launching at all) and the gearboxes do overheat.
I will also go for the shep 6 spd upgrade eventually... I like the 6 spd too much..

I wanted to buy the RS 5 spd with shorter gears, but that was unavailable used , and too much money new. I do not like the normal 5 spd with long 5th gear..

4th gear didnt let loose. your 3/4 slider exploded. and the resulting shrapnel took out a whole bunch of gears after that. it would have felt car went into neutral when it let go.

you are right... it felt exactly like that... like it jumped out of gear.... however it was accompanied by a loud BANG..

but, this sheds new light onto potential weakness.. any other 6spd's had a similar problem..?

now that you have mentioned it, the fact that the shifter fork broke, it really does look like the slider exploded first..

it would be nice to hear Shep's opinion on this...

if anyone needs more pics, or material samples, please let me know..

This sucks.

Obviously this man has backup...
However... pleasse, for god's sake, to those people that are "waiting for their 6 speed to fail" before considering the shep build... consider this post... consider it a few times. Your upgrade price will escalate into well over 4k with all of the other crap you take out with a 'failed 6 speed'.

I'm sorry to see/hear this... I'll forward it over to Shep asap.

This is one of the many reasons why shep will not just send gears out, he wants to inspect the transmissions and let the owner know what other things should be freshened up.
