I love my ebc. I can quickly adjust boost from sunday drive to kill. I also have a fail safe for my meth kit tied in that drops boost to wastegate on low/no flow. I find that it holds boost very well.

Mbc is a cheap effective way to go. I'm switching over to GM 3 port ecu controlled. Remember you get what you pay for. I'd rather have something constantly monitoring and controlling my boost for me based on the parameters I setup rather than relying on some spring to do it's job.

Never owned an EBC, but I absolutely love my AMS MBC.

Em, from STM, installed it in that location for this very reason and he was right.
Yeah mine is mounted right on top of the right side of my radiator. I guess I should just stay out of boost for a little longer till my engine bay gets even hotter.

I stay out of boost until the oil is up to temp.

If you have a 3port call Bryan at GST and say "give me the smarts" Ecu controlled Boost is great with v7. It has a larger map and gear based boost control

I have MBC mounted to the radiator. Just don't go ape on it right at startup... hell you shouldn't do that to any car!!

It's working great for me.

Why the hate on the little spring!? Even solenoid valves have a spring keeping it shut! You just have a bunch of copper and some spiffy electrons to pull it open instead of pressure hehe

Step 1. Buy an MBC
Step 2. If don't have an EBC continue to step 5.
Step 3. Remove EBC and install MBC.
Step 4. Smash EBC with a hammer.
Step 5. Install MBC.
Step 6. Enjoy you're car running correctly under load and WOT.

Interesting debate I must say.
  1. MBC is great for those on a budget and if you wish to raise boost. Not really great when the weather changes like in the Northeast.
  1. EBC like blitz, HKS, and Greddy use a 2 port bleed solenoid which is basically similar to MBC. You pay more for them but you have more control over your boost and you generally don't go over your desired boost level.
  1. The OEM 2 port Bleed Solenoid and Boost pill works well but not only do you have to tune the ECU but you also have to play with restrictor pills.
  1. 3 port Solenoid my new favorite. Having a good tuner and the ECU control boost is the way to go. 3 port solenoids work on an interrupt mode which basically block boost from the wastegate solenoid until the ECU basically tells it to cut boost. You will get a much quicker spool up and with a mean setup you can hold boost all the way to redline with no taper if you choose. You have 2 ways of doing this via Load or Direct boost control. Load would be they way the car was tuned to boost when the car was stock using the MAF readings to reach desired boost load. Direct Boost control would be using a JDM or EVO X map sensor or larger aftermarket one which basically you requesting a desired boost level and you got it. They is some tuning involved in it but if you or your tuner know what your doing then you will have a monster.
I will be selling my Blitz SBC-ID EBC and installing my GrimmSpeed EBCS and Omni 4 bar Map sensor in the new year with Tephra V7 patch

That can be the case if one has his EBC programmed such that it is active prematurely. The idea in programming an EBC is to keep the solenoid closed until just before the point where boost needs to be controlled. If it is clicking along in unboosted regions, this will delay spool to some degree, especially where an unecessarily weak WG spring is used.

The limitation in the solenoid duty vs. rpm table is the onset of boost vs. rpm is different in different gears. This is where either load limiting or pressure limiting boost control strategies prove their worth.
