High Compression Help

Okay, I started a thread earlier because i needed help diagnosing whats wrong with my car.. i am 90% sure I broke a ringland.

So now its time for the build.

Im running an FP Red and want to make some decent power.

The guy I bought the car from claims it has Carrillo H-Beam rods and JE pistons. I have not torn into the engine to see what it really has though.

So here's my thought and what I need help with:

SuperTech 9.5:1 pistons
if it doesnt have carrillo rods then Eagles
Dual valve springs
1mm oversized vales (inconel exhaust)
GSC 272 cams
port and polished head
ACL bearings
water pump
oil pump
all new gaskets and hardware
ARP headstuds.

What I am thinking is that if I bump my compression up I can get my torque back form the Red and if I keep it Standard bore and stroke I can rev the hell out of it.

I was thinking of lowering the deck height and trying to get the CR to 9.8:1 but Im not an engine builder and i dont know if the parts above would help me do that or not?

Suggestions, Advice?

So what makes you think you broke a ring land? It must smoke like a ***** etc if so.

Yes, lowering the deck height will raise your compression. You will want to make sure the valve reliefs in the pistons etc are large enough to compensate for what you are doing. Why not just go with some higher compression pistons rather than trying to do it by doing something that isn't reversible? Good luck.

I want to run on pump gas and I dont have much money to play around with. Who makes a 9.8:1 piston? From what I have read to run 10:1 or higher you really need at least E85 or equivalant.

I think that I will stick with the 9.5:1 ratio. I do not live in a area that sells E-85 and I would hate for E-85 to be taken off the market, I have already heard rumors of this. I just want some more N/A power before I hit boost, I have absolutely NO torque going to the RED.. I suppose I could have had a cracked ringland for a while though? I didnt even know until I checked the compression because I was still making like 370whp.. lol

This is a budget (unexpected) build. Im not looking to spend gobs of money on my DD/Track Car.. I will save that money for the real race build later down the road.
