Sounds good I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this tomorrow. So is it necessary to run the dual springs? I was going to get the gsc beehive springs that use the factory retainers. I thouht that's what gsc originally recomended. I won't be bringing it higher then 8k and even then I usually puss out arond 7500rpm lol. Unless ofcourse my new found power will change that lol

I am not engine builder. If GSC reccomends those springs then you should be good.

Ok thanks for all of you info and input newbieEVO8!
I just wanted to clear something up for anyone stumbling upon this thread...The "new" description of the S2 cams that i found on GSC's website is NOT the new write up. I was doing some searching on google about the S2's and found a thread started on a different forum with a link to GSC's website or a paraphrase or something like that. Anyway this must have been before they came out with their beehive replacement springs using factory retainers. And the whole not recommended for use on factory appearing turbos is not there anymore.
Sorry if this last paragraph seems confusing. I just gave it a read and its hard to follow even to me but im a little short on time and don't have time to rephrase.
Thanks again for all the help guys! Im ordering these today!

Does anyone have a dyno graph running the S1's? i found plenty for the S2's but not for the S1's. I cant decide i want the fast spool but would like to see a graph to see where the S1's start to lose power (or stop making power)
Edit: Mod list is FpGreen,TBE (no cat),880cc,Buschur FMIC and full piping,MBC@27psi, walboro255, 4WS Tune

If you are going to S2 cams from stock cams you will not lose low end trq or hp. You will just gain on the topend.

I dont know about the newer cams but I have the older gsc 272's and everyone here thought my car was a freak compared to cars in the area with similar or even bigger turbo setups. Point blank, their cams make great power and I'd recommend the s2's from what i've seen or even the kelford 272's.

simply put, get the s2 over the s1, even on small turbos it's an improvement.

Ok so i bought the S2's and some beehive springs. Heres a questions when i put them in and go to get tuned should i mate these with larger injectors as well? Or will the stockers provide enough fuel for me. Im already spending more then i want to right now especially that i plan later on to add a FP red or something similar wich im sure i will do injectors for as well.
So the question is. Do I need injectors for a proper safe tune?

stock injectors and a walbro can carry you as far as 400awhp but that's pushing it. If you're going to do a FP red then I would do 1000cc for pump gas or larger for e85 or bigger turbo.

I don't think there is any real world comparisons of those two.
But the S2's will have more duration and more lift so that would lead one to believe there are gains to be had from changing, knowing how much would be pure speculation at this point. Just my .02.

Not much to report so far. As i stated earlier I have the S2's and beehive springs. Im trying to get the other necesary parts to finish this off for example timing belt balance shaft belt i need a new serpentine belt valve cover gasket etc.
Also im negotiating with someone on an IX turbo that I may throw on there as well for the new tune. Hopefully that will put more over the 350whp and similar torque making the car feel new to me again.
Although i must say on these cold night weve been having in the North East the car feels like a monster. So I'm excited to see the results.
everything should be installed this weekend and I will report back with untuned thoughts and then thoughts on tuned results
