internal engine rattle?

just started rattling today after a long drive, i noticed after driving through a tunnel the car was making a ticking noise wasnt sure if it was a exhaust leak or not cause it didnt really sound like one but the idle is a little weird feel like it wants to stall almost? so i get home and i can hear some sort of lite rattling in the engine just below exhaust manifold, the car boost fine and the afr readings are the same as before. i dont think its the trans making the noise

can someone help me out here on what it might be

Start by trying to isolate the rattle. Get it so the rattle is present then push in the clutch (vehicle sitting, not driving) and see if rattle goes away, this will determine if rattle is coming from the engine or trans, then report back.

^^ no its not tob rattle!

at low rpms the car is VERY jerky when i'm on & off the throttle its not smooth at all, i also been smelling exhaust that smells like gas but not raw gas so i'm guessing theres an exhaust leak somewhere under the hood? the rattling that sounds like its in my engine but i'm not sure comes and go's but once its rattling the car just doesnt feel right? when i get home from work and let the car cool down it too dark to do anything so i have to wait till this weekend before i can look at it and do a boost leak test. if i have a vacuum leak will a boost leak test show it?

i would appreciate any help you guys can offer thanks

This is a long shot but is it related to any of your belt-driven systems going on/off, most specifically AC?

whats the TPS sensor? once the car is warmed up it starts rattling and the idle feels weird but the rpms dont move?

just today i noticed that when i boost in 1st gear and only first gear i hear a rattle and the car feels soo laggy i'm almost sure i have a exhaust leak under the hood somewhere cause i can hear it as soon as i hit the gas but its not that loud, this is a problem i can fix on my own (hopefully) im more concerned about this rattle thats in or around my engine and almost makes my engine sounds like a diesel? both of these problems showed up at once?

i really dont know where to start other then taking off my undercarriage driving around till it starts happening then get the car up on ramps and try to see where its comes from.

its hard to describe how my car is acting but i'm trying my best, i was hoping for someone that has alot of experience to chime in

thanks for all the guys trying to help!

sure its not a rod bearing? --louder at idle then running, but it will get progressively louder. if you have an oil pressure gauge--pressure will be down 10psi or so from where you normally find it

doesn't sound like a vacuum or boost leak. You'd probably hear either of those and it wouldn't sound like a rattle at all....

Exhaust leak sounds like a good suspect. I'd check every connection from the exhaust manifold to the cat-back. You'd probably be able to just hear the leak if its bad enough to cause a problem.

Walk around the car while it's running, see if you can hear anything.
