I just had to replace my second front case. Both of mine looked like this pic. I had a new Kevlar belt. I would drive the car and put about 1000miles on it and finally start t beat on it. After a highspeed pull or two the pump would die. The first time the belt was tight. So I replaced it again set it loose drove it about 1200miles and then did a highspeed pull. Killed another one. This was on a JDM motor. I am hoping that my fatal flaw was that we reused a tensioner. This time we did a oem belt and a brand new tensioner. So far I have 300miles on it.

I did notice that when we were pushing back the old tensioner this time (before I found my new tensioner) that while compressing it that it popped it the vice like it was stuck.

What I was thinking is that when I would do a highspeed pull that the tensioner would let out to keep the slack out and then not return fast enough or stick or whatever and then kill the pump?

Does this make sense??

If no what else could do this??
thanks.

I will have mine apart this weekend so I can post some pics to see if it looks the same. I will also check my tensioner it is new, but I also still have my old one from the timing belt change.
