e85, 880cc injectors, and a walbro 255 fuel pump gets you 60 whp over stock.
Next I'd get a downpipe, cat delete and catback exhaust, then onto an intercooler, then IC pipes and then cams, valve springs and retainers.
After that I'd personally have your block built before you strap on any bigger turbo, but that's just me. I'd say 420 whp is the most you should be pushing on stock internals. You can do a hell of a lot more, but save yourself a couple thousand dollars and do it the right way.

I went super cheap when I first got my MR. Here is what I did.
eBay Turbo-back exhaust ($230 shipped)
used K&N drop-in filter ($35 of EvoM)
Hallman manual boost controller ($115 from some vendor)
Swift springs ($300)
Custom road tune ($250)
I bought all parts and had them installed for around $1100
This got me around 315whp and 315 torque. I say that is pretty good.

best bang for the buck is clearly getting a high-speed connection, yo. The self-help you can find on the site can be priceless but I can imagine how chunky it is on dial-up (hell, it is bad on cable/dsl at times).
As for car mods, I would agree on a TBE + tune, maybe look at Buschur or AMS, and search for threads. You really want to get a tune with mods so it is best to get as much together and then pay for a good tune from a reputable shop. G/L!

It has been mentioned on the thread - bigger injectors, higher flowing fuel pump (walbro 255), and a tune for it. Obviously, you will need to have a good source, meaning station(s) in your area. Also, if you aren't able to switch between an e85 tune and a pump tune then you will need to ensure that you are always using e85.

pretty same here the ebay zorst is stonkingly quite and nice straight routing without any nasty turns awesome value.

I also have the ebay $220 shipped to your door exhaust. I love the sound also. Quiet at cruise and loud WOT. I'm on a little quest to see how cheap I can take this car to the 11's.

Not to burst your bubble.. but..
You are getting most of your power from the boost controller, Exhaust and Tune. The stock air filter is fine at those power levels as well as the springs.
If you only did those mods you would notice the same amount of power. The K&N drop in filter has actually been known to confuse the MAF and actually lower your horsepower.
