AMS turbo kit problem with hta 86...

Soo my car is in the process of having a 2.3l stroker put in it. Everything was going great until i get a call from the shop about the turbo. I bought the fp hta 86 and they said it needs to have a five bolt exhaust housing to work with the ams kit. Right now it has a 4 bolt but i looked on fp site it doesn't even look like they make a 5 bolt? i never even heard of a 5 bolt housing either . Anyone running a HTA turbo on with their ams kit?

Iam kinda at a loss honestly.. My hta 86 has a precision housing i don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Did AMS sell you the turbo ?

If not it sounds more like a problem of buying a turbo that does'nt fit...Which I don't think you can blame on AMS.

AMS uses different hotsides than other turbo kits, nothing new.

soo how would i go about getting the right housing for the hta 86? should i call ams? or should i have the shop just fab up a different o2 dump. I don't know what would be cheaper or quicker at this point. I mean on FP site they dont even have 5 bolt housing as an option.

All you have to do is a buy a 5 bolt Precision .63 AR Ford Housing.. and bolt it on.. it works great!! You have a 4 bolt housing right now.. just swap to the 5 bolt and you are good to go!

FP doesn't have it as an option because they dont like the turbo to be used on anything smaller than an .82 AR.. but the .63 is fine and has been proven to make good power with great spool.

I never realized AMS used something besides the 5 bolt turbine housing??

If you had a 35r AMS Kit and are having the turbo upgraded to an HTA86. Then you have nothing to worry it about. Just use the housing that you have, it will bolt right up.

Honestly, dont use the .63 (5 bolt of 4 bolt) with the HTA86.. you are gonna choke it. If you are gonna use the 5 .63 housing get the HTA82 if you want all that trq.

why can't you just get your own 4 bolt o2 housing? I'm pretty sure they can work around that.

I wish it was that easy man i had the 50trim on it befor this . So they don't make a .82 housing in a 5 bolt?

How hard would it be for the shop to just fab up something to work with the 4 bolt anyway?

they were saying something about how the external wast gate is setup. Like the housing needs to be a 5 bolt because of where the external waste gate is.

If I'm not mistaken all they have to do is attach the external waste gate to the 02 housing if is resurculated. May be the problem is attaching their down pipe if not, I really don't see the problem with just going with a 4 bolt 02 housing, what are they including with their KIT?

I think befor i go all crazy trying to find this housing ill see if they can fab something up hopefully. When i was talking to him i was saying could you cut the 5 bolt flange off of the 02 housing and put a 4 bolt. But then he kept saying the exhaust housing of the turbo needs to be setup for a external wastegate. And that it wasn't as easy as that.

If you still have the 50-trim then you can re-use the hotside from that turbo on the HTA86.

this is the best news so far though if it does fit on the hta 86. If the 50 trims exhaust housing is a .63ar that would be so awsome.
