Gear Synchros - Evo III
Can anyone help me out? I'm looking at all of the OEM parts for an Evo III here:
http://www.dentsport.com/gallery/v/d.../evoparts_001/
Where it says; "Synchro ring" a couple of times, how do I know which synchro it is? or which gear its for? or does the same one work for all gears?
Is this the actual 3rd gear itself? "MD747250 3rd gear"
Better yet.
I want to replace the 3rd, 4th & 5th gear in my Evo III box.
So if anyone can tell me which part numbers I would have to get from that list I would appreciate it....

Thanks for that.
One more question.
If my gears are gritting now, will buying those 3 part numbers solve it?

I think 747255 is the syncro for 3/4 gears.
747376 is number i have for 4th gear.

generally the gears themselves are not the problem. main causes of grinding
1.worn syncros
2. rounded slider teeth (from bad syncros or clutch)
3. worn shift forks from resting hand on shifter while in gear

Hmmm I see.
Do you know anyone I could ask to get the part numbers to change my 3rd/4th/5th gear synchros?

They are all syncro numbers. They are supposed to be. I just skipped the explanation and went right for the actual problem.
Sorry.

PS- you should inspect the bearings also. If they have excessive wear the teeth can loose meshing tolerance (for lack of better english) and then break teeth. They're probably fine and you'll be well served doing the syncros but you should at least inspect the bearings while the transmission is apart.

runuts-
Can you identify the 2nd/3rd/4th/5th synchros from these pics? My supplier told me to tell him which ones they are.
