I don't new about normal but mine does it too. From what I have seen Evo hook-ups are across the board. Some like it this way. Some that. Have to experiment and see what works best for your car.

I just drove my car again and I noticed tons and tons of part-throttle flutter, but no flutter if I throttle over %50-ish. Sometimes the flutter in 6th is so bad the car almost has a tiny hiccup. Right now I am using both ports. I may try and block one, then swap and block the other and see how it works.

I am also hearing a tiny whistling sound? I dont know exactly how to describe it, almost whenever I am accelerating before I hit boost. The closer to boost the more I hear it. And when I shift there is no sound of the BOV releasing or anything like that.

so heres my little situation...

whats the deal...

When I got mine the C-port was capped off already (as shown in pic). I was in the impression that it was a Evo specific one and only added vacuum to the A and B ports...

Did any one else receive their BOV in this set-up or should I contact Synapse...

By the way this BOV far surpassed by expectations! The stock IX bov must've been leaking pretty bad because I picked up 5psi of boost before 4,000rpm. I still get flutter when I'm on partial throttle and havent had the time to play with it, one reason being that I dont know if the c-port should be capped...

Once I figure that out I'll start to problem shoot the flutter...

On with the pics...

the C port is supposed to be hooked up to a "boost only" source as that keeps the bov shut and prevents it from leaking under boost. It uses the boost pressure to force the valve to remain closed...the more boost you are running the more force is applied to keep the bov shut. I don't have a stock turbo and have the C port hooked up. I'm not sure why yours is capped off.

I'm pretty sure it's exactly opposite of what you said.

Port C is used for boost only to help open the BOV when running high boost pressures. A normal BOV usually just has the vacuum from the top ports to open, but the synapse also has port C for boost to help open it, for rapid response and easier opening at high boost.

yo o-town, thats how all of the newer DV will be setup coming out of Synapse (according to Pete).

Back in Mar I took mine in to have them look at it, check on some flutter/ surge I was experiencing and one of the first things they did was to modify the "C" port (plugging it) and porting the chamber enternally, and in my case i had some serious Comp surge! (I had the FPRed w/o 80mm house/surge port). Since going with the Juiced FP Red w/80mm house absolutley NO comp surge!!! but i had experienced some minor flutter. Talked with Pete and he recommended connecting "B" only ... No issues!

They actually dont recommend messing with the spring adjustment, adjust by switching the port combination until it is resolved, if not then go to the spring for adjustment. This is without a doubt the best DV/BOV out there!

but the newer Valves will have no "C" port or it will be capped!

Oh yea (I hope I'm not misquoting), using only the "A" port is like using 60% of the surface area with in the chamber and port "B" is like 30-40%, with both "A&B" it would equate to 100%

after re-reading synapse bov review on their website, I believe you are right and port C is for opening the bov so quickly after you shut the throttle..

Ronitlancer, I have the same issues as you do with the part-throttle flutter, and it's getting annoying.
I have port-C connected to boost only source from the wastegate, and port-B to intake manifold.
This is the first I'm hearing about capping port-C. Is this the new recommendation from synapse? I might try that if it works.
