who has heard about the turbonetics 60-1 hifi turbo??
i know its a old turbo but who has had any experience with it on a stock block?
any input would be aprecciated
The Hi-fi is not the cooler of the 2 60-1's its the small compressor housing so it doesnt flow as much as its big brother is rated. On the Hondas I tried this on I made a best of 375whp at 23psi on a 1.6. Keep in mind on a Honda thats alot of boost for that little amount of power.
The 60-1 compressor appears best suited toward low boost applications - not exactly what one is typically seeking with a 2.0L engine and 3000+lb chassis.

i will keep you guys posted on how it goes wit my setup i will also post vids of the lag....
On my 2.3L set-up it makes about 50HP more than my 3076 made on the same boost levels on the same size exhaust housing... Spool is about 500rpm later though...
50HP vs 500rpm later spool not sure if this is acceptable to you.
I chose it even though everyone said its old tech and the wheel design is not good for high boost etc, for a couple of reasons:
a.) I felt it would be a better pump gas Turbo
b.) I felt it would be better on lower boost levels
c.) I was not keen to run 30psi+
c.) felt that on my application it would spool like a 30R on a 2L
d.) wanted to create my own bb ver of a Red like capable Turbo
Wanted to make more power on less boost with 91Oct Fuel...
I have the T04S cover though with 4inch intake and 3inch boost pipes and a bigger FMIC...
Let me know what your results are like, am considering a TS GT3582R with a T4 1.06 housing as I believe the 60-1 offers similar lag but less power...

This is on a 4Cyl 2.4L Motor for the T3 .63 & Stg 3 Exhaust wheel combo:
50 trim: Good all around turbo. Spools fast, and will make great power. This turbo is perfect for those wanting to run lower boost, and those who run only pump gas. If you plan to run nothing but pump gas, and want a good street turbo, then this is your turbo. Full boost should be right around 3100-3200rpms with a .63 A/R turbine housing. On our test cars, we've pulled over 420whp on pump gas at 23psi. The maximum boost is around 31-32psi where we have seen 500whp. If these numbers are big enough for you, then look no further and order a 50 trim. Its a $300 option because it is a custom built turbo, but well worth it. Flows 49lbs/min...
57 Trim: The 57 trim is not a turbo we really recommend. Its basically a less efficient 50 trim. If you want something that spools faster than a 60, then get a 50 trim. If you want a bit more power, get a 60 trim. If you think you need a 57 trim because some other guy told you it was the best wheel out there, you can convince us to sell you one. (It would be the same price as the base kit.)
60 trim: Slightly larger than a 50 trim and will support another 10-25hp. The turbo is slightly laggier than the 50 trim so full boost is around 3200-3300. The turbo wiill make support a hair over 30psi and also a good street turbo. Below 20psi, at the same boost, a 50 trim will make more power, but at higher levels, the 60 trim has a slight edge. 50lbs/min...
60-1: Now were getting into the big turbos. A 60-1 will make upper 500whp, support well into the 30s, and be a nasty turbo. Full boost is around 3400-3500 in a .63 A/R turbine housing. This is a good in-between turbo. Not huge, but not small. Good blend of street and race. Flows 61lbs/min...
ok... bolted on this setup on my car yesterday, and all i can say is wow.....it feels fast on 25psi untuned (no knock) (on e85)..... full spool around 4400rpm...im sure itll spool faster when i get tuned...defenitily feels faster then my green...
