Heat Reflective Tape "Gold vs. Silver"
As many of you know I do consulting work for various race teams. I came across a product that out shines the typical Gold Foil in radiant heat reflection. All Gold Foil is not the same. The F1 teams and other professional racing series ues a high end foil that is ultra expensive and has a radiant heat energy absorbed of about 3% or 97% reflective. The other gold foil that most people use has a radiant heat energy absorbed of about 60% or 40% reflected. Not very efficient. The foil I came across has a heat energy absorbed of 4% or 96% reflected. It is silver, almost a mirror finish and runs about the same cost as the common gold foil, but has the performance level of the high end product.
This material has many uses in any area where heat soaking is a problem. It will aid in protecting electronics, radiator hoses, upper and lower intercooler pipes, and the area between the LICP and the downpipe. CBRD and other members in the community have come up with many uses for this heat reflective film.
This is the best option I have come across to combat heat soaking in a long time.
I'm not selling this product I just wanted to pass along some info that might be usefull in your applications.
Thanks, Indy

I will get all the info Monday to where this is available. I was given some material to evaluate on a project I'm working on so I do not have any exact cost numbers other than it is at the level of the standard gold foil. I added a picture of the standard gold foil and the silver foil.

Indy,
we have been considering doing some testing as well, as different materials, silver or gold (and depending on its quality) were used in different spots on the race cars....
we have access to the ultra uber f1 style gold as you mentioned by its 4 times the cost as the now more common stuff....
let me know what you find...
ill do some testing here also.

^ Not even close to this product. The photos in davethewave's post show the lower grade film also.
This is why I posted the info, the average guy has no idea the difference between the products available.
So far CBRD is the only one who knows the difference.

I'm fairly certain that he stated in his first post with the pictures that the foil in those pics was the commonly available gold foil.
I may have misread/understood what he was saying but I don't think so.
Thanks again for bringing these things to the attention of those that will bring them to market Indy.
