For the record I would still go with a quality core. A 3" ETS will have customer support and issue control where the CX does not. The ETS has also been used with a 35r and made extremely good power. They have the larger sizes available as well (up to 5" if you ever really needed it).

The 5" thick core is more an advertising gimmick than a reality for most of us. Nobody that drives their car on the street really needs a 5" thick core -or wants the headaches of fitting it without destroying the bumper. Maybe a good idea if they were planning to head to Baja for an endurance rally, wanted to run a sub 9 second 1320, or had a huge horsepower road race car.

ETS intercoolers are top notch bits for sure, but their prices reflect that as well.

CXRacing has better quality cores than most people want to realize or admit, especially for 1/4 the price or less. Take a look at this picture, CXR on top ETS on bottom, ETS has larger endtanks and I bent a couple of fins and got some grease on the CXR as I was installing it, but the cores are pretty similar if you ask me. Definitely enough for someone who is shooting for 400-450whp.

Well ya maybe it is a better core or price!! But I know the guy who works there I helped him with with brackets for the ams/copy intercooler... I'm not hating here this guy just copy's other people's products!! He has no performance back round no testing the products...Just copy and sell...
I was running the ams copy on my car with no issues,,,
I guess It's what you can afford at the time or deals you come across...
He gave me 3 intercoolers just for welding and mocking up brackets.I couldn't say no,,,,

Made the numbers in my sig using it. Never had an issue. I also know a ton of other local high HP cars running them without an issue.

I don't mind paying for quality parts. But these work well and are great quality for the price.

I love posts like that. No explanation at all. -But it's definitely garbage because you think so.

How about putting some thought and reasoning into your post? Most of us are reading this thread because we're looking to learn something new... enlighten us. Tell us why the intercooler you chose to use is superior.

What do you need customer support for ? The install takes 20mins ??

I am all for supporting dsm/evo vendors but the prices some vendors charge are highway robbery. Especially when a lot of parts sold are not even tested to prove that they make substantial power over companies that charge a fraction of the cost. And the people that think just because something is sold on ebay , it automatically makes it junk are ****ing idiots . Sorry its just my opinion.

As far as the CX core goes, I run it with no problem at all. Its a 3.5" core AMS knock off design. I think its a good temp core for the people who want something better than stock but can't afford a higher end unit like a buschur or AMS race core. I personally will keep this on my car until this winter then I will buy a Buschur race core. But during this transition period, for a $120 you can not beat it.

What dsm/evo company's are not testing there intercoolers? I can guarantee you that AMS, ETS, Buschur and others all test there intercoolers.

Quality core cost more money period. For the sake of argument we will use the garrett core. The cost for the vendor of the core is around 5 times the price of the core that the cx racing core uses. Then you also have to take in to account the fact that the over all design, testing, and welds take expertise.

You stick the big 3's intercoolers next to the cx racing one you will clearly be able to see witch one is lacking in overall quality.

And yes customer service is an important issue. It is not just the install that they are able to talk to through but all of those company's will take care of you if there ever is a problem. good luck being assured of that when dealing with a company that is based off of ebay. and i am not saying that everything off ebay is bad, but there is a lot of parts that are not made with care and quality

I ran an eGay core and it did well for awhile, but heatsoaked especially on a stock turbo. Like JB I got some spool back when I went w/ an ETS 3" core. Its good if you dont have alot of money or are on a budget but a quality core like ETS, AMS or Buschur core > eGay.

No part of a CXracing install is 20 min other than pulling the bumper off. Nothing fits right, they heatsoak, the tabs all need modded, they are the proof to the saying that you get what you pay for.The 3.5" required custom couplers to work right and it was listed as a bolt on.

If you have ever looked through a Garrett core or Spearco core and one of these will instantly understand why they cost less, work less efficiently, and make less power. I have tested them back to back, thats why I said what I did. When I called CXracing because nothing was working and everything needed cut or modded all I got was "your car must be crashed".
