Oil report
Got a report from Blackstone on my last oil change. Been running this stuff for about three changes now and just got around to checking it. The oil was Schaeffer's 5x50 full synthetic.
Mileage was 3 thousand miles on a vacation trip, 75 to 95 mph.
Around 1 thousand miles around town tooning the car
One day lapping in mid June. The pdf says it was 5x30 but that was info left over from the last report. I did add a quart on the trip thinking the oil was low but it just hadn't drained back in the pan.
the stuff comes in a five gallon bucket

My car is a track junkie, the one day at the track is a real test of the oil. A lot of guys will change the oil after every track day, this oil did the track day then a month or so of tuning and fooling around, and then the three thousand mile trip. The idea the oil did well, for the track day and in what could be described as regular to hard driving is great news to me.
To be honest I'm surprised the wear tests showed so well, I was going to revert to another oil till I saw the results. I was concerned the heavy oil might not be good in regular type driving.
adding the quart should have decreased the viscosity but it couldn't have had an effect on the results as the damage would have already been in the oil.

Right... but we are talking PPM out of a total sample amount. If you start with a volume of 5qts, do a track day plus lots of driving and then add a 6th qt, drive for a little bit, its not going to yeld the same PPM as if you only had 5 qts because its beeing spread out over that extra quart of oil.
eitherway, your wear levels would still be low.
