Confused

I was taking my son to practice this morning ita about a 15 min drive from my house. I got to the place and turned off the car and about maybe 5 min later i hear a rumble type noise coming from the engine bay. I pop the hood to see where it was coming from and hear the top radiator hose making a bubbling type noise as if it has a air pocket. i look at my res and see its a little low on coolant but not bad. i pop the oil cap off to see if there is any moisture on the insdie like milk and pull the dip stick nothing there. the car runs and idles fine. Any ideas on what it is? oh btw its a 03 evo with atp 3071r kit on it basic bolt on stuff and i baby it all the time. i havent raced it in anyway in over 2 years.

thx

Take off the radiator cap and run the vehicle until it warms up and the thermostat opens. That will get any air pocket out.

do you think its as simple as just a air pocket in the system?

Bubbling to me, would be an air pocket. If you aren't over heating, that really rules out the water pump and thermostat.

maybe your headgasket .... try to ride it on boost and stop and check your level ... if your headgasket is failing you should loose some boost thru the gasket.

What? Lose boost? If your head was lifting you would have oil down the side of your block. Do a compression test to really find out if the gasket is failing and continuously check the oil to see if it's milky.

not really, I had some issues like this it was very very small on the gasket ... and only happends on high boost. I tought that I should see milk, but I didn't. So I pulled the head off and found the burned gasket.

i was on my WRX.
