evo 9 stock wastegate actuator vs fp 18psi actuator
Hey everyone,
I want to purchase the fp green turbo (still holding for the HTA at the mom.),
but haven't decided yet which actuator to use.
I have seen that some people use the stock wastegate actuator while others use the fp 18psi actuator which helps hold more boost up high... since this actuator is provided for no extra cost, i figured the only reason some people are using the stock one would be that the the upgraded one has some down sides, but couldn't figure what...
can anyone help plz??

okay, I've had both WGA's on my green.
First, if you're going to be running pump gas only, get the stock IX actuator. When I was using the FP 18psi upgraded actuator on pump gas tune, the Green would intially hit 23psi, then creep up to like 25.5psi and cause knock.
For higher boost, either can work - depends on your goals.
The stock IX actuator will give you the classic Evo torque curve - high initial spike with torque (and boost) gradually dropping off from there. Very fun on the street.
The FP 18psi actuator will give you a torque curve that milder initially, but holds steady past 6500, before gradually tapering. Kind of reminds me a bit of a 50trim or 30r dynograph. You won't get that initial hit at 3800rpm, but it will give you more sustained torque later in the powerband = more top-end for drag racing...
I actually switched back to the stock IX WGA, because I missed what made the Evo so fun to drive in the first place.
